Looking for a name for soon to be DS. So far we like:

Oscar
Dylan
George
Harry

Any opinions on each? Or if we like these, any other ideas of names we might not have thought of?

Thanks!

Harry Oscar and George are okay. I don’t like them but They are nice names. I can see the appeal.
Dylan is awful.
Noah. Theo. Alfie. Oliver.Thomas. Leo. Alexander. Toby. Jack. James. William.

I like Oscar, but I have young children and have come across quite a few in the last 4 years if that bothers you.

Dylan - I find it a lovely name these days, I think it was seen as a bit lower class say 10-15 years ago but I think that is less the case now. I prefer Dillon but know I'm in the minority there

George is ok, but I just find it so dull

Harry - I'm sick to death of Harry. It's everywhere where I live. I much prefer Henry

Dylan is my favourite from your list by far, then Oscar, George and Harry

Oscar - love! And much less popular than if used to be. If you look at the official statistics the name has been on a downward trajectory year on year since 2013. So people that think it’s common are likely to have children that are about 8 years old now. Much rarer these days.
Dylan - love love love
George - love (favourite)
Harry - love

Other suggestions:

Harrison
Otis
Christopher/ Kit
Sidney/ Sid
Eli
Ellis
Barnaby
Wilfred
Laurence nn Laurie
Miles
Seth
Eric
Marley
James
Louis
Elliot

Oscar - not keen, it's the sort of name a cat would have
Dylan - awful.
George - fine
Harry - fine, but it seems like nearly everyone I know has a Jack or a Harry

Thanks all! I seem to be getting very mixed opinions, especially on Dylan/Dillon which is edging towards being our favourite! I may start a new thread just on it to get some more opinions!

If you love Dylan OP, use it.

It was a very popular name in the Welsh-speaking parts of Wales in the 1960s, where it is pronounced DULL-ann.

Bob Dylan got the name from Dylan Thomas.

Dylan was used by non-welsh speakers later, and they pronounce it as DILL-un.

It is a name from another language or culture, and a celebrity-inspired name (compare it to Kevin - Irish and footballer inspired) so anyone who makes these associations are likely to judge.

I have an opinion on it because it is a mispronounced dated Welsh name, and I would consider it a bit downmarket.
