Looking for a name for soon to be DS. So far we like:

Oscar
Dylan
George
Harry

Any opinions on each? Or if we like these, any other ideas of names we might not have thought of?

Harry Oscar and George are okay. I don’t like them but They are nice names. I can see the appeal.
Dylan is awful.

I like Oscar, but I have young children and have come across quite a few in the last 4 years if that bothers you.

Dylan - I find it a lovely name these days, I think it was seen as a bit lower class say 10-15 years ago but I think that is less the case now. I prefer Dillon but know I'm in the minority there

George is ok, but I just find it so dull

Harry - I'm sick to death of Harry. It's everywhere where I live. I much prefer Henry

Dylan is my favourite from your list by far, then Oscar, George and Harry

Oscar - love! And much less popular than if used to be. If you look at the official statistics the name has been on a downward trajectory year on year since 2013. So people that think it’s common are likely to have children that are about 8 years old now. Much rarer these days.
Dylan - love love love

Oscar - not keen, it's the sort of name a cat would have
Dylan - awful.
George - fine
Harry - fine, but it seems like nearly everyone I know has a Jack or a Harry

Thanks all! I seem to be getting very mixed opinions, especially on Dylan/Dillon which is edging towards being our favourite! I may start a new thread just on it to get some more opinions!

If you love Dylan OP, use it.

It was a very popular name in the Welsh-speaking parts of Wales in the 1960s, where it is pronounced DULL-ann.

Bob Dylan got the name from Dylan Thomas.

Dylan was used by non-welsh speakers later, and they pronounce it as DILL-un.

It is a name from another language or culture, and a celebrity-inspired name (compare it to Kevin - Irish and footballer inspired) so anyone who makes these associations are likely to judge.

I have an opinion on it because it is a mispronounced dated Welsh name, and I would consider it a bit downmarket.
