Thoughts on this for a baby boy?
Double barrelled surname beginning with T so no clash there, I've not met any yet, does anyone know any? Opinions?
Thanks

I know a lovely wee staffy Digby.
Well known solicitors in Scotland, Digby Brown, there as is on the radio all the time.

Boxerbinky · 29/03/2020 21:31

I know two Dibgy's - the first is very well to do, from London - it's his middle name but as his first is also his fathers name, it is the name everyone call him he goes by. It really suits him tbh!

The second is a nickname - one of my dh's mates. He was called this because Dibgy was the 'biggest dog in the world' it used to suit him - but now he is happily settled.. not so much and his gf of course hates it.

Don't know if this helps - but I didn't know about the dog connection until I met my dh. In the context that you are from London, I never thought the name seemed out of place in his circle.

I didn't know about this biggest fight in the world I thought everyone just thought it was a commonly used name for dogs and never heard of the Scottish solicitors and don't have any Scottish connections so that wouldn't be an issue, DS does watch digby the dinosaur I suppose

For me it's tainted by Sir Digby Chicken Caesar from Mitchell and Webb Look

yestonodressyet · 29/03/2020 22:53

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'm not keen on Rex it sounds harsh to me I'm not keen on X's in names. Otto I like but have on a middle name list and I do like Rufus as previously mentioned, I like hector but DS1 name begins with H and I'd like it to sound different to his name

I LOVE Digby. Was always on my shortlist.

I do love Rufus, Rex, Milo, Caspar, Otto, Rudy, Sylvester and Felix though also, so pet names are definitely my thing.

Ah, this is one of those joke threads to cheer us up, phew!!

waterlego · 29/03/2020 23:11

It is very posh, especially with a double-barrelled surname. It conjures up a ‘hooray Henry‘ type for me.

Also, I know a sausage dog called Digby.

Mimca · 29/03/2020 23:22

I know a 10 year old Digby. Lovely boy from a lovely, unpretentious family. He doesn't get teased, it's just another name at school.

Astronica · 30/03/2020 00:04

I love Digby and think it's cool. I know an adult and a teenage Digby. I also love Rufus, Monty and Theodore from your list.

Fiddlersgreen · 30/03/2020 00:10

I know a 13 year old Digby. Lovely lad.
Theo is nice

CrocodileFondue · 30/03/2020 10:02

I think Digby is lovely. Especially if the surname is double-barrelled, a short name sounds nicer and less of a mouthful.

The "dogs name" thing is a load of rubbish, it's not like you want to call your baby Spot!

yestonodressyet · 30/03/2020 11:16

Thanks for some positive comments everyone nice to have a balance!

I like it

I’m aware of the biggest dog in the world, but still like it.

SpratsOnParade · 30/03/2020 11:45

Digby is awful.

CottonSock · 30/03/2020 11:49

I quite like it, but only one I know was a rabbit.

Whatsyourflava · 30/03/2020 11:51

Awful. Really bad.
