Noah or Loxley?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. Ever since we found out I'm having a boy, my partner and I have been calling him Noah, but lately we've been falling out of love with the name because of how popular it's becoming.

I found the name Loxley and I fell in love. It's super uncommon, but is it too out there?

What do you think? I'm open to any other name suggestions.

I think Loxley might be the hormones taking over! 🤣
Noah is lovely though 😍 and not as popular as it used to be a few years ago. Will be even more uncommon by the time your little one arrives

I am aware that Loxley is the name of a village, but isn't that just the same as naming your child after a city like Paris or Aspen?
I am also aware of the Robin Hood connections it has, but I don't see how that's so ridiculous. People name their children things like Arrow or Archer, doesn't that have some sort of connection to Robin Hood? I think Loxley is a lovely name, personally.
Not a massive fan of the name Lachlan, but I don't think I'll be calling my child Loxley either due to the backlash this has got 😂 Maybe as a middle name though?
Still not loving Noah as much as I used to because the popularity of a name is something that does matter a lot to my partner and I.
Back to the drawing board, I suppose.

Noah. Lovely name.

Bezalelle · 25/03/2020 19:59

They're both dreadful!

Noah is just a sound. Like wind down a pipe.

Loxley just puts me in mind of lox and bagels.

Boireannachlaidir · 25/03/2020 21:13

Oh goodness not Loxley, it's awful. You did ask...

midwestspring · 25/03/2020 21:21

It looks like a lovely village. Not particularly modern.
(Personally I might think you were an Archers fan)

Noah or Loxley?
Shortfeet · 25/03/2020 21:26

Loxley , no.
Noah, no, but not such a big no

allaboardthesinkingship · 25/03/2020 22:02

How popular it's becoming? Noah has been super super popular for about 5 years! I don't like either, Noah is so overused and loxley sounds made up

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 25/03/2020 22:04

As a middle name it would be quite nice OP.

Rose1000 · 25/03/2020 22:12

Loxley is kinda hard too pronounce..
I like Noah better but it's your baby!
If you like Loxley, go for it!

EugenesAxe · 25/03/2020 22:21

I know a Jonah if you want an ‘ah’ Biblical name?

There’s a Noah at our infant school, but only one.

When I hear Loxley I too envisage Alan Rickman saying it in a sneery way as Sheriff of Nottingham...

kirkandpetal · 25/03/2020 22:24

Christ! Neither.

ViserionTheDragon · 25/03/2020 22:26

YY to Loxley = Robin Hood/ Robin of Locksley. It looks like a spelling mistake tbh. Go with Noah, he will thank you for it later.

Ellmau · 25/03/2020 22:39

I would definitely think you were an Archers fan.

What about Alexander?

Happiedays · 25/03/2020 22:43

I disagree. I work with someone called Loxley and literally everytime I hear his name is reminds of Robin Hood Prince of thieves... But also gives me a really warm feeling and send me down memory lane

charliem20 · 25/03/2020 22:45

I've never actually heard of Archers. I prefer more unique names. Like I said, I'm open to suggestions. Feel like I've kind of hit a brick wall with finding a name for him. Thank god I have 15 more weeks until he's due

The archers, bane of my childhood.

Noah or Loxley?
DontBe · 25/03/2020 22:55

Noah definitely.

Hereforthenamethreads · 25/03/2020 22:59

I do not like either.
