Thoughts on the name Bernard? It's in the family and it's not one I've ever came across so I dont have much of an opinion but oh got it as a middle name from his grandfather and our other 2 kids both have names from the family in their names

Ohidontknow99 · 17/03/2020 23:40

Awful

IndoorWeather · 17/03/2020 23:42

Awful. Surpassing awful.

Bouncingbelle · 18/03/2020 01:40

Really??? Please no! Fine as a middle name.

Oliversmumsarmy · 18/03/2020 01:47

I can only think of Bernie Winters or a St Bernard dog

Oliversmumsarmy · 18/03/2020 01:47

Showing my age

Aurelie20 · 18/03/2020 14:07

In my country , you will never meet a Bernard that's under 60 yo. Sounds very outdated to me.

MargotMoon · 21/03/2020 09:15

@monkeytennis97 Breslaw and Cribbins both put the name firmly in the pro column imo Grin

flutterby31 · 21/03/2020 18:35

The best dog ever!

s3tut0y3r · 21/03/2020 18:50

Nice for a middle name

JKScot4 · 21/03/2020 18:52

Not due for a revival; was it ever popular?
Definitely a wee old mans name 😕

LittleSweet · 21/03/2020 19:03

I like the way Americans say it. 'B'nard' . Not 'Bernud', like here.

justfeellikedancing42nite · 21/03/2020 21:01

I used an old name for my ds first name, (only one we could agree on for over a week.) and as long as you dont mind random people commenting, "is it after someone in the family?" (Mine isn't!) Just go for it.

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 21/03/2020 21:04

I like it, but then I have a little Bernadette, so I'm slightly biased GrinWink

Russellbrandshair · 21/03/2020 21:05

Omg No it’s horrible

mig58 · 21/03/2020 21:06

My dh named Bernard. Jokes his mother liked it as it was a 7 letter word b..ard. They did not get on.
He was actually named for a relative who died in the war so a nice reason but a horrible name.
Everyone calls him Ben

Cinammoncake · 23/03/2020 13:25

I think Bernie's quite sweet
