If we like Autumn....

Any ideas would be very helpful Smile
We're looking for a name that is not too common (because I have a very over used name!)
I don't think I can use autumn outside of the season ...though others may disagree x

I think Autumn is a beautiful name, and can be used whatever time of year baby is born.

I have a Marnie, which (in my opinion) is very pretty and not overused x

Is it the beginning sound you like so audrey, audra, aurora, aurelia or the ending so Blossum or Tatum or miriam or just the vibe?
In which case i think Hazel?

Kerrin, Erin, Audra, Faith

Marnie is beautiful @baby410 one of my favourites

I also agree that autumn is regarded as a name now not just a season (420 babies given the name autumn in 2018 - last year we have data for. No way all of those were born in autumn)

Other uncommon names:

Willa
Sadie
Edith / Edie
Margaret /Maggie
Clementine/ Clemmie
Roxanne/Roxanna/Rosanne
Pearl
Delilah
Ottilie / Ottie
Cora
River
Winter
Jemima
Holly

Thanks ladies!
So do you think it's acceptable to use any time of year? Not sure I could be that brave!

It is better than Winter which I have seen a lot of threads on lately.

Autumn Kelly (Peter Phillip's wife) was born in May so springtime.

Pretty soon it just becomes her name and I very much doubt when she introduces herself that anyone will ask if she was born in Autumn.

I would just go for it, it is a very pretty name.

Phillips' not Phillip's

Silly autocorrect

I love Autumn, such a pretty name!

It’s definitely acceptable to use any time of year- I think we can be a bit behind the times on mumsnet. But look at the statistics. 420 babies called autumn in 2018 and it’s on an upward trajectory so will be more in 2020. I bet less than half of those babies were actually born in Autumn. It’s become a name in its own right. Do you really think every 70 year old “June” was born in June? Of course not. Worst comes to worst, a random person asks you “ah autumn that’s a nice name was she born in autumn” answer “no I just liked the name”. Is anyone going to care? Can’t imagine even the local b*tch going round saying “oh you’ll never guess what... that baby called Autumn over there... WASNT EVEN BORN IN AUTUMN”. I mean really?!
I notice winter becoming more popular too - love both names .

Love the name Autumn, and I don't think you need to have an autumn baby to use it. Plenty of Summers, Winters, Aprils, Mays and Junes born at different times of the year.
