So far the ones my husband and I both like are:

Raven
Aerith (pronounced Air-ith)
Freya (I'm not 100% as it's very popular)
Winter or Autumn (unsure of these myself as baby will be born in the summer)
Scarlett

Opinions on these and please add more.

Love Scarlett.
Winter and Autumn are nice.
Especially dislike the popular Freya.
Some suggestions

Pandora

Sorry, I've just seen my suggestions mentioned in previous postsBlush

Could be a sign you should go for one of themWink

motortroll · 09/03/2020 10:19

I love Winter, it's my daughters middle name and a family surname.

I do like a Raven too but it might be odd if she's pale and blonde?

What about Wren?

crustycrab · 09/03/2020 10:20

Just saw someone suggested Demelza Confused no. Even raven is better than that.

I have a friend born to "alternative" parents. She has many siblings, all with strange names. Not one of them doesn't resent their parents for the name and all have altered them in some way.

Call her Jane. There aren't enough Janes anymore.

erised · 09/03/2020 11:01

@PopcornAndWine hubby is, yes :)

@erised The version I played she was called Aeris which I think is nicer. But if I was to go for a Final Fantasy inspired name I would probably go for Rinoa (from FF8) Smile

erised · 09/03/2020 11:29

@PopcornAndWine Rinoa is very pretty! I also love Aeris

I love Autumn but can’t decide if it’s an odd name to give a summer born baby.

erised · 09/03/2020 11:47

@tiredanddangerous I think the same thing but then again if someone tells you that their kid is named after a certain season, do you ask when they were born? I know I personally wouldn't so I'm not sure it would be that big of a deal.

Bobismyfriend · 09/03/2020 11:51

If baby will be summer born, how about, June, July or August depending on the month she arrives?

severalboxes · 09/03/2020 11:53

How about Thora?

SallyWD · 09/03/2020 12:08

I know a littke girl called Ravenna which means Raven. How about that? I think it's nicer as a name than Raven.

angelaEhen · 09/03/2020 12:14

I only like winter and autumn,

What about juniper?

erised · 09/03/2020 13:23

@severalboxes Thora was on my list but hubby is worried she'll end up being called Thor...

@erised no I’ll be honest, no I wouldn’t ask when a baby was born if they were called “winter” I’m not sure why I’d even care to ask? Both names are getting more mainstream (still pretty unusual but much more commonly used than they used to be).
There’s no way all 158 baby girls born in 2018 (2018 being the most recent year we have official stats for) named “winter” were all born in “winter”
And certainly NO WAY that the 420 baby girls called Autumn in 2018 were all born in Autumn. Ludicrous.
Really lovely names. Don’t like Raven though. That’s a step too far

  • I think what I’m trying to say (badly!) in the above message is that Autumn and Winter are now thought of as “names” not just seasons. So yes ten years ago people would be much more likely to wonder if a baby Winter or Autumn was named after the seasons but not now there’s literally hundreds of babies being born with these names. In the same way “June” has become “just a name” and not a months Having said that, even unusual names like “January”- I never wondered if January Jones was born in January?!
erised · 09/03/2020 16:55

Yes, I agree @Whatsyourflava
Thinking more into it, I don't think it will be an issue. My cousin's daughter is Summer and have never thought "Oh but she was born in Autumn!".

How about Alex or Sam sop their isn’t any gender discrimination.

feelingchange · 10/03/2020 05:35

I LOVE LOVE and LOVE some more the name Raven! It doesn't work with our surname though😢

MamaDane · 10/03/2020 05:49

If she has black hair go for Raven, ginger go for Scarlett, blonde go for Winter or Freya, brunette go for Autumn. Grin

Just kidding. I think Scarlett and Freya are the nicest of the bunch. Wink

ButterflyOfFreedom · 10/03/2020 06:12

I love Scarlett & Freya but they are both pretty popular if you're looking for something more unique...

ilovemykids5 · 10/03/2020 10:36

Love Raven. Would she likely be a blonde child as I would think it would suit a dark haired child.
