Glitterywellies · 01/03/2020 21:03

Make sure you are familiar with the lyrics of "Lola" by The Kinks before you choose Lola... I would say she is likely to hear this song more than once!

Ivy - beautiful
Mabel - nice
Jasmine - okay
Lola - chav, porn, pet,
Maisie - pale, weak child. More nicknamey than a 'proper' name.

  1. Jasmine - like a lot; also like Jasmin and Jessamyn.
  1. Mabel - growing on me. It feels old-fashioned, but I like -bel names (Amabel, Arabel, Isobel, etc.) and Mabel is a nice short one, easily pronounced and spelled. Mae/May and Bell(a) are both good nicknames.
  1. Ivy - mildly like it, but quite popular. And immediately makes me think of Holly, which I slightly prefer.
  1. Maisie - like as a nickname, but it's quite little-girl/teenager to me. (Then again, I know a Mamie who's a fund manager and a Daisy who's a hotshot solicitor, so maybe I am being old fashioned.)
  1. Lola - my only "dislike" here - possibly as a nickname - Charlotte, Laura, Penelope? - but not really a fan.
Pukkatea · 03/03/2020 14:23

Mabel - I love names that end in -bel
Ivy - popular and classic
Jasmine - don't love as a full name but I do like Jazz/Jas
Maisie - known too many dogs named this
Lola - her name was Lola, she was a showgirl

Merrz · 03/03/2020 14:25

Lola
Maisie
Ivy
Mabel
Jasmine

notalwaysalondoner · 05/03/2020 15:39

Ivy - lovely, popular but not insanely so
Jasmine - always sounds exotic to me and it’s not unheard of but not common, I quite like it
Maisie - to me always seems a bit twee, cute for a child but not for a grown up
Mabel - one of those granny names that in my opinion should never have come back in
Lola - I just see this as a nickname, as a full name I wouldn’t say it passes the high court judge test
