How would you spell this nickname

Hello,

My baby daughter is called Genevieve (mn Grace).

While we use her full name a lot, she also gets called Vivi (pronounced Vee-Vee), as my sons and DH like this... my intention was to cal her either Vivi or Evie, but Vivi seems to have stuck!

However, the spelling of this nn seems to have caused confusion, with family members referring to her as Viv-i, which I hate. I’ve taken to spelling it Veevie... does this look a bit weird/inelegant? Any better ways to spell it? Vivie? Vievie?

Also, which do you prefer as a nickname... Veevie or Evie? Some family members have said they dislike the nickname Vivi full stop (and said quite rude things about it!) which has upset me...

Actually I quite like Vievie or Vie-vie. But you might get people thinking it has the ‘eye’ sound instead.

Vivvy makes much more sense.

I thought people were saying viv eye.

My mistake, I was up til 5am watching the boxing and the lack of sleep must be affecting me more than I realised.

Ve-Ve or Vee-Vee. If You spell it phonetically there's no confusion of is it an
E or an I pronunciation. Vowe ls can be confusing.

Vievie is a pretty and more intuitive spelling! I dont think it matters a whole lot but the problem is just that Vivienne is so popular you are gonna run into Vivis short for Vivienne everywhere that I would spell it more distinctively. Genevieve is stunning and Vievie is a beautiful nn!

One of the reasons we chose Genevieve is that it gives her so many options for names in the future, so she can pick one she likes. But for now, it’s Veevie and I’m going to try out the Vievie spelling, based on your feedback. Hopefully that will be less confusing for ppl. It’s also the closest derivative of the spelling of her full name, which I like.

Yes, I like that about Vievie, too. If it were me I’d be going with that.

Geneviève is beautiful. Potential nicknames evolve and often different family members and friends use different short forms.

I would have thought that Genny is the most natural shortening? But if you prefer Vievie, then I'd spell it like that.

@Grufallosfriends yes. I’m happy for others to call her by a different nn. Just ask that they are not rude about the one that our immediate family is using!

I really don’t think Vivi pronounced Vee vee is confusing at all. Vievie is stranger.

Vivi is adorable! I would stick with that spelling and just correct people for a little while, they will soon get the hang of it. Her full name is beautiful too. Ignore the haters!

I'd stick with Vivi too. Veevie looks really odd to me and I'd instinctively want to pronounce Vievie as 'vyevvie', assuming that Genevieve was being pronounced in the French way. I'm not sure why, but that's what I did when reading!

I'd pronounce Vivvy or Vivvie with a short i sound, but Vivi with a long one.

You could also go totally wild card and change her nickname to Gigi!

If you vie for attention it is pronounced with an eye sound.
