Boys names- which is your favourite from my selection?

Baby due any day now, brother to Charles.

We have narrowed it down to

Dexter
Hugo nn Hugh / Hewie
Caspar
Maximillian nn Max

Surname is very unusual, and starts with a harsh C sound, like cook

Dexter

If you pick Caspar you will have two with the same initials, CC.

And in school 2 x C Cook.
I would avoid that.

Dexter is very different to Charles. Caspar would be a lot of C's.

Charles and Hugo ( though Hugh is nicer than Hugo, why not just call him that directly if you plan on it as a NN?)

Maximilian or Caspar. If you want Hugh just name him Hugh.

I love Hugo, Caspar and Maximillian. I don't mind Dexter. Since you already have Charles I would cross off Caspar though to avoid 2 with same initial. Very hard to pick my favourite out of Hugo and Maximillian - if the full name would sometimes be used I think maybe Maximillian but if always Max I would lean towards Hugo/Hugh since Max is so popular.

I love Hugo and Hugh. Max is also nice. Not keen on Caspar.

Max but it would depend what your surname is.

I met a Conrad last night and was reminded how much I like that name.

I like Hugh/Hugo but it’s definitely on the up re popularity if that bothers you.

I don’t think that Caspar or Dexter go well with Charles.

Max is probably my favourite. Max is better than Maximilian.
I like Hugh and Hugo. I would quite happily call a son Huw (welsh for Hugh) or Hugh (secret Duke of Westminster crush - sigh!). Hugo is getting more popular and a bit more downmarket.
Caspar - one of those names that is nice when you only know one but a bit naff if you know several.

Forgot Dexter - not keen on it. It is the antonym of Sinister. Anthony is lovely but Tony is a bit grandad and ant is a creepy crawly.

I love Dexter, DH not keen. He loved Maximilian, I wasn’t keen. I still like Dexter, our sons aren’t called either of these names.

Where I live, Hugo would get called Shuggie
