Think for eg Tommy Tomlinson?
I have a name name I have always loved but first half is the same as our surname, is this weird or not?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We had a Steven Stevenson at primary school, I always found it bizarre but I'm not sure it was a big deal for him. He didn't get teased about it.

I assumed his mother had no imagination tbh.

I find the ones who have a surname that couldn't be a first name who then use a first name that could be a surname worse.
e.g. Mitchell James

We ruled out Willow for this reason though we both loved it

Like Boaty McBoatface?

I knew a Thomas Thompson years ago and I’ve only just twigged that his first name is massively similar to his surname.

God, I do wonder about myself sometimes Confused

With SO many other names to choose from- WHY???

I went to school with a Theo Theophanis and a Mohammed Mohammed! Both of which I thought were very odd names, but no idea if they got teased for it or not.

No I wouldn’t

My husband has a name like this. He loathes it and goes by his middle name.

(Yes he’s Welsh!)

VerbenaGirl · 12/02/2020 21:43

I don’t mind it.

Freezer. I knew an Evan Evans, a John Johns and a Thomas Thomas in Wales when I was younger. Not so common now though I think.

I also knew a Jesus Thomas too, but that's by the by.

Lots of John Jones in my family. Also have Welsh ancestry and have Evan Evans, Peter Peters etc in my tree.
My surname is also a boys name.
