Star Wars themed Pedme vs Pedimae

Padme (The m has a French accent thing over it)
This is a Star Wars themed name, she is Luke and Leia's mum.

What would others think if I changed Padme to Padimae?
That way it looks more how it is pronounced, is that weird?

Not sure if I should use as a first name, middle name or even at all?

Why the i? There's no i sound in Padme.

codenameduchess · 09/02/2020 08:28

There is no I sound in padme has no I sound, insisting it does shows you aren't a real fan but lumbering your kid with a try hard name from a franchise she may not even like.

If you need to give her an attention seeking name go with padme. Personally I would go with something less obvious, both of my children have pop culture inspired names but not obvious enough that they will always be linked to a franchise.

There is no I sound in padme.

It's just padmay

But don't. Just go with Leia if needs be.

You shouldn't have a baby until you are grown up really

Save it for a cat.

A couple of comments seem harsh. I am not the star wars nut in my relationship, so forgive me some ignorance. It is simply something on the table among many, buzz kills. Likely I heard it wrong, I though I heard a di sound in Padme - DP will be pleased to get the boxset out for me to listen more closely Wine.

Carrie might be better, for there is a Carrie Fisher (Leia) & Carrie Bradshaw (Sex & the City) Grin

Could always use Vada, for years I thought he was Darth Vada (It's Vader).

Why does the "Star Wars nut" in your relationship get to dictate ridiculous names for your child to be saddled with?

What about George? Or Lucas?

CodenameVillanelle · 11/02/2020 22:35

Please don't name your kid after Star Wars

Lizadork · 11/02/2020 22:47

I am in open discussions with my star wars nut. He isn't making the sole decision, we are choosing something together and thankfully have a few months to come up with something. George and Lucas would not work this time as it is a girl. She might end up as Elizabeth yet.
