Thoughts on Victoria? Are there many little Victoria's about? I quite like Tori

I like Victoria but not a fan of Tori or Vicky. I think due to Victoria's Secret brand, the name will always be in fashion and not considered an old lady name. It's a strong name and beautiful and it's good that it's not overly common right now! I just don't like the nicknames but that's my opinion!

Kokeshi123 · 09/02/2020 12:46

Tora is a NN that I have heard.

SunshineAngel · 09/02/2020 12:50

My flatmate at uni was called Victoria, but it was shorted to 'Tor' rather than 'Tori' or 'Vicki' or 'Vic' or whatever.

It was different and I liked it. But, you know, we're almost 30 now, so it might not be quite right for a baby being born today.

Overthinker1988 · 09/02/2020 12:55

I love it, strong classic, beautiful name. I don't agree that it's dated, I think it's a timeless name although maybe not the most popular these days. Was considering using it myself but doesn't go with surname.
Only downside is that Vicky sounds a bit meh...because of that stupid Vicky Pollard sketch.

radioband · 09/02/2020 12:56

My 2 year olds middle name is Victoria, I wanted it for her first name but didn't want her to be called Vicky.

Infamy · 09/02/2020 13:05

I love Victoria but I am not keen on the traditional shortenings. I do like Vita though.

ItFigures · 09/02/2020 13:06

Really dislike it and for two reasons: 1. The two Victoria’s I know are vile women and 2. It’s quite dated now

DearGod1 · 09/02/2020 13:14

I'm not keen on it. It's quite old sounding and harsh I don't like Vic or Vicky.

If you like long classic names, Alexandra?

Alex is bad ass for a girl. Or Lexi, Lexa, Ali, etc.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/02/2020 13:25

I've known a couple of 50+ women who use Plum as a nickname for their given names of Victoria. Don't know if that's a bit tenuous in this day and age, but it would be very cute for a little one.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/02/2020 13:32

I'm a Victoria, rarely called that though. I prefer Vic. I am not keen on Vicky but I appear to be stuck with that. Also known as Vicler, Vickram and Victoire!

Toddlerteaplease · 09/02/2020 13:33

I wish I'd come across Tor or Tori S a NN before I was 23!

Toddlerteaplease · 09/02/2020 13:35

I'd Love to be known as Plum
Though. But too late now!

Dyra · 09/02/2020 13:59

My sister is called Victoria. I like it, classic and pretty. I do agree the downfall of the name is the nickname Vicky. If it helps, family legend has it that I pronounced my sister's name as 'Vee-tia' (I was 2 at the time...) which led to her getting the nickname Tia.

SquigglePigs · 09/02/2020 14:16

Love it, and Tori is my favourite abbreviation/nickname for it too.

diddlediddle · 09/02/2020 19:16

Really nice

swampytiggaa · 09/02/2020 19:18

I have a 16 year old Victoria. God help anyone who calls her Vicky 😂😂

AfterSchoolWorry · 09/02/2020 19:20

I think it's ugly.

BackyardChickens · 09/02/2020 19:22

I find it very stern

AlpacaGoodnight · 09/02/2020 19:30

Always loved it! Not keen at all on Vic or Vicky but like Tori or Toria as shortenings. Personally I would stick with Victoria as long as you can then it might never get shortened!

Lulu1919 · 09/02/2020 20:05

In a school of 400 we don't have any !
It's a lovely name ..but not keen on Vicky !
