Londoners, which names are popular in your ends?

Particularly for babies / under 4's type ages? I only know a few little ones that age so would be interested to hear more of what's about in your area, and particularly names which are very popular e.g. you know of at least 2 of them.

One's I've heard recently, but only once each:
Delores
Juno
Phoebe
Horatio
Seren
Saffron

My DC are teens, but lots of my friends are just having kids now in their kid 30s-early 40s

Juno seemed to explode about 5 years ago up norf London way. I’d never met one and then a friend, a colleague and one of DH’s acquaintances all had one!

Other popular names for little ones (know, or have heard of, more than a couple) seem to be:

Iris
Orla
Sadie
Olive
Mabel
Isabel/Isobel/Isabella still going strong

Leo
Theo
Louis
Teddy
Raphael

You know they release a top 100 by area each year. So you can check the London statistics for a more accurate picture @CouldBeAGreatMum

Whatsyourflava · 05/02/2020 17:48

Obviously Juno is still rare in London but you’re bound to get statistical anomalies (as above) where a poster knows 3. It’s better to check the actual statistics

CouldBeAGreatMum · 05/02/2020 17:54

I don't think they break it down into specifics areas / boroughs do they Whats? If not I will check

Forgot Iris, seems to be gaining popularity & Orla I live in zone 5

Minai · 05/02/2020 20:55

I’ve met about 10 baby Sienna’s in the last couple of years, I’m in south east London, zone 4. For boys there are lots of Jude and Felix.

Nightmanagerfan · 05/02/2020 20:57

I’m SE London and every other baby is Leo, Theo or Thea. Lots of Islas still

I have met more children named Felix in the last year (generally babies and pre-schoolers) than anything else.

Evie/ Evelyn also.

Just trying to understand what you’re trying to achieve here @CouldBeAGreatMum so we can help? Are you currently naming a baby and trying to avoid a popular name? In which case it’s best just to avoid the top 200 all together if you’re wanting something that’s going to have a name with a more unique feel. There’s always bound to be exceptions (eg poster above that knows 3 Juno’s). There was only 100 Juno’s born in 2018 so it’s clearly an unusual name wherever you’re from in the uk.

If you look at the regional top 100 names across the country there’s actually not that much variation (eg olivia is top 5 practically everywhere).

Just avoid top100/200 and definitely avoid the top fastest rising names within the top 100 for last year (Hunter, Roman, Luna, Grayson)
