What do initials look like with double-barrelled names?

Just that really..

How would you initial names that are double-barrelled?

For example, with first names, would Ann-Marie Jones be AMJ or AJ?

And when considering surnames would Freddie Smith-Taylor be FST or just FS?

It sounds silly but I'd always assumed it was all letters but DH thinks it's just the first letter of the double-barrelled name?

all the dc I know with double barrelled names have AMJ, so all the letters rather than just the end one.

oh hang on, I read this wrong. I think that Ann-Marie Jones would be AJ, but Freddie Jones Smith would be FJS

My dc have double barrelled surname, of which one is Irish, so they’re XLOM (boy) and XLNM (girl).

My second name is double barrelled without the hyphen. Use first name initial and each of the surname initials.
So if I was actually Helena Bonham Carter, who also has a double second name without the hyphen, I’d use HBC

My kids are ABD-C. And EFD-C

My first name is double barrelled and I use all initials. So AMJ from your example.

I have a hyphen but I’ve never put it when writing my initials, never occurred to me...oops

I'd always thought it was all initual letters represented. So an Anne-Marie Smith-Jones, for example, would be AMSJ. If she went into a profession that uses 2 or 3 initials as shorthand, she'd be either AJ for two, or ASJ for three, surnames taking precedence.

I have 2 surnames, no hyphen. My initials are ABC (not actual initials obviously ) Even with a hyphen I think it would still be that because AB-C is clunky. Definitely not AB or AC. That's the whole point of having 2 surnames, they both count.

I have a double barreled surname and use both names in my initials so Alex Black-Castle would be ABC. I actually get really cross when people just use "AB" rather than "ABC".

In the Dilbertian family we all have:

First name
Middle name
Double-Barrelled surname.

We all use all intials except Middle name, ie FDB.

Have never come across a different system. At work the same system is used to identify staff on memos etc.

I usually seen a hyphen between the initials for surnames.
So Alastair Damian Smith-Jones would be ADS-J. At least for many schools it is.
