Emily or Annabelle to go with Charlotte?

I’m struggling between Emily and Annabelle for Charlotte’s sister’s name...

I think Charlotte is elegant, classy, classic and timeless, with beautiful and sweet pronunciation. I decided to use this name without any hesitation at that time...

Which pair is the most matching to Charlotte, matching maybe in terms of whether they both share similar feelings (like elegant, classy, classic and timeless), how they sound together, etc., I don’t know...

And as well as looking at the names individually (not in a pair with Charlotte), Emily vs. Annabelle, which one would be more preferable?

Any thoughts and suggestions would be highly appreciated! Thanks all!

I find Emily stale. Bland. A bit wet.

Annabel.

I don't really like either. I like the suggestion of Alexandra or Elizabeth.

I prefer Annabel but I think the recent horror movie has deterred a few people.

Very much appreciate your comments, but it’s really tough to make a decision!

Not keen on either but Emily is much better than any form of Annabelle. It's ok but so overused.

Emmeline or Emilienne would be better, I think.

Emilienne is that even a name? Looks daft to me.

OP how about Alice, Harriet, Lucy, Florence, Madeleine? They would go well with Charlotte.

But out of Emily and Annabel I would choose the latter. Emily is drab.

Yes it's French. I came across an English Emilienne recently, I think it's very pretty.

I think either choice is very pretty and timeless and both go equally well.
You can't wrong with either of these, OP.

I prefer Annabelle and I agree with others that Emily seems a bit bland. It does sound pretty with Charlotte though.

I also love the Alexandra and Elizabeth suggestions and think they’d go beautifully with Charlotte.

What about Isabelle if you like Annabelle? Though I myself prefer the spelling Isabel.

I teach an Emilianna, kind of a combination between the two. NN is Mills or Millie.

Emily!

I love this name - think the Bronte association is pretty cool.

The only reason we decided not to use this name is we know far too many!

Not Annabelle, such a prissy name.

Emily is ok.

I think Alice, Florence or Emilienne (sp) is better.

I like Emily better, it goes nicely with Charlotte and I like the brontë connection! Emmeline is also really pretty and could be shorted to Emily / Emmy?

Oh I like this thread! I have an Annabel and she is FOREVER having her name spelt as Annabelle! Or because people know it’s not the ‘norm’, we get Anabel, Anabell, Annabell.. sometimes we get comments that didn’t we wish we’d just spelt it Annabelle 🙄

Obviously a tad biased but I like Annabelle Grin We use Annie as a nickname!

I like both but would go with Emily bc I think it ages better. Whereas Annabelle is more of a little girl name to my ears.

Definitely Emily. As well as the Brontes, they are sisters in Rumer Godden's The Dolls' House.
