Hi,
Can you please give your opinion. And preference on the following names for a boy.
They will have a brother called Luca, and their surname will be Jones.
Finn Jones or Milo Jones ?
We are very torn between the two names, and would appreciate any feedback.
Thank you

Milo sounds better with your surname.
4amWitchingHour · 12/01/2020 09:47
The only Milo I know is a 35 year old man - I'd never think it was a dog's name!
NationMcKinley · 12/01/2020 09:48
Love Milo
SquigglePigs · 12/01/2020 09:56
Although both would be fine I think Milo sounds much better with Luca. Also Finn Jones sounds quite harsh - a 2 syllable first name sounds better to me.

Milo is OK (don't know any dogs called Milo, but do know a horse!) You could go with Finley as it will still get shortened to Finn.
Flymetothestars · 12/01/2020 10:29
Milo is a great names. Over 550 baby boys were named Milo in 2018 and it will have been even more in 2019. It’s clearly not seen as a dogs name. Remember that any name can be used as dogs name. I know a dog called Keith. No dogs called Milo.
You could always consider registering him as “Miles” but just calling him Milo day to day. I’d just register as Milo though. Great name but I love Finn too
Flymetothestars · 12/01/2020 10:29
Had you thought of Flynn?
dj1905 · 12/01/2020 11:03
Thanks for the reassurance.
Can you please advise where you found the statistics?
Appreciate your help

I can't get the past the chocolate milk drink reference for Milo either, and agree it makes me think of dog names!
Finn, Finley or even Flynn.
Flymetothestars · 12/01/2020 13:56
No problem. There’s lots of places to find ONS official data online.
Here’s a good website though:

dj1905 · 12/01/2020 14:18
I understand the dog reference, but the chocolate reference doesn't phase me.
I've never heard of it! Someone else said that before, but it's not a brand that we are aware of. Thanks
diddlediddle · 12/01/2020 17:47
I know a few little Milos and i think it works better with Luca and your surname than Finn.
dj1905 · 12/01/2020 18:23
I'm glad to hear that there are other Milo's out there.
I didn't know if it was very well known?
NoSauce · 12/01/2020 18:55
Milo.
Yes there are dogs with that name but who cares? There’s dogs called Jack, George, Molly, Bella but it doesn’t stop people naming their children them.
robin04031402 · 12/01/2020 19:02
I prefer Milo!
Could you not go for Miles/Myles as an alternative and his nn could be Milo if you wanted?
robin04031402 · 12/01/2020 19:03
Also never came accross a dog named Milo nor would I associate it with a dog.
Go for it!
Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 12/01/2020 19:34
Definitely milo
dj1905 · 12/01/2020 20:12
A good friend of mine is called Miles.
Flymetothestars · 12/01/2020 21:49
@dj1905 there are hundreds of Milo’s out there as the official statistics go! It’s a great name, a bit unusual but not at all “out there”
30620Kay · 13/01/2020 09:50
Milo xx
firsttimeivfmum · 13/01/2020 20:19
