I wouldn't shorten any of these names, I detest shortened names,

Elizabeth is a name I adore. I love all the various shortenings (except Liz and Lizzie). But I have known children caled by the full name and also shortened to Ellie, Beth, Libby, Betsy and Eliza.

We almost used it for DD2, but our favourite nicknames (Libby and Eliza) we're already in use.

Elizabeth is nice because it is a traditional name, lots of options but not too many around. I teach very few girls with this name.

Eleanor is nice too, but there are so many of them around.

Sorry, but I dislike Violet.
