A second boy?

So I have a boy who's almost 2 and I'm newly pregnant again, 6 weeks so due around August. My sister also has 2 boys I've told close friends and family and they keep telling me it's going to be another boy, apparently Cos me and my sister love boys so my next one is bound to be another boy. I actually would love a little girl also

Has anyone been in this position where so early on people have been convinced it's another boy (or another girl) and we're surprised to have the opposite gender

Well, when I was pregnant with baby 2 I was utterly convinced I was having another boy. Even though I knew there was no way to actually know, I just had "a feeling" and it was a very strong feeling. I made a big thing to everyone about how I just knew it was a boy. I didn't think about girl's names with much seriousness and had a boys name picked (only one as DH and I could only agree on one!).

So I was VERY surprised when baby was born and DD popped out. And felt a bit foolish that I had been "so sure". Grin

With hindsight I just think I could only picture another baby boy, as that is what I already had. Silly really!

Oh and a midwife added fuel to the fire by telling me I was more likely to have another boy because I already had a boy, which made me more convinced. I don't think it's true, just a wives tale!

Good luck with your pregnancy OP!

I mean, it's a 50/50 chance so yeah I guess there will be plenty of people will have been in the same position!

I believe that it's only slightly statistically more likely to have another boy if you already have two boys. If you have one then it's just as likely you'll have a girl as a boy.

You have a 50% chance of a girl. Simple as that.

I have one of each and no, I wasn't surprised when the second one was the other gender Hmm

No, you only have a 50% chance of a boy. So it's just as likely a girl!

I honestly wasn't bothered either way, but I was utterly convinced I was having a boy. People would ask. Are you finding out what it is, and my reply would always be. I don't need to. I know for a fact its a boy. I. Could even imagine blue cards and flowers.
When my dd was born. I was all groggy from the anaesthetic and when they told me id had a little girl. All I said was "A girl, are you sure.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 28/12/2019 17:17

My Nannie was so convinced my DS2 would be a girl that when he was born she told me to get him DNA tested as the hospital had given me the wrong baby Grin

I was 99.9% certain he was a boy. Just a feeling I had.

I

I guessed all 3 of mine incorrectly. I had girl, girl, boy. Played havoc with the names I had chosen. I so wanted James for a boy but by the time I had ds ( after a big gap) my sis had used James for her DC3. Grrrr!

I have a little boy whose 5 and I am due twin girlies at end of Feb. I was and so was everyone else CONVINCED it was twin boys and I honestly think this was because I couldn't see myself with a little girl because of how used to a boy I was .. and it was the biggest shock ever when I found out I was having girls but now I am so so so excited to have little girlies and honestly wouldn't change it for the world 💗💗💙
