What’s popular for babies?

IRL what’s popular in baby groups etc? Am currently TTC dc2, not so interested in older kids names but more babies.

I find the charts quite misleading, my daughters name is in the 20s/30s and I’ve encountered a few. More than the actual top 10names. Just would be helpful to know :)

I know loads of Olivia’s and Noah’s. Have met quite a few Teddy’s and Emily’s too.

I find the top 100 baby names list to be pretty accurate from my experience. LOADS of Arthurs and Islas, also Sophia, Matilda, Albie, Archie, Geroge, Mia, Evie etc.

Jaxson/Jackson is one of my chosen names. Whilst I appreciate it's not everyone's cup of tea. It would be nice if you could keep your opinion to yourself rather than slate it.

I know 4 baby Arthurs and 2 baby Florences. They are the only repeats I think of babies I know born this year. If toddlers are included in this then Isla and Teddy also seem very popular in my area.

I know there’s a list somewhere of the popular names grouped together so Isabel, Isabelle, Isobel, Isabella as one and Evelyn and Evie as one for example.
I think those two names are a bit descriptively popular.
Teddy as a boys name would be an example. It’s EVERYWHERE but because it’s sometimes Teddy, sometimes Edward and sometimes Theodore on the BC people think by checking the ONS list it’s less popular than it is.

Amelia, Isla and Rosie/Rose are popular in my area. Boys are Theo and Oliver.

Most of the names on this thread are in the top 100 most popular names and are therefore popular!

If you want to reduce the likelihood of having a popular name (especially with a popular surname!), have a look at names outside the top 500 or so.

I have met multiple baby Oscars, Arlos, Arthurs and Theodores recently. And Thomas/Tommy
Girls - loads of Matildas, lots of variations on Rose/Rosa/Rosie

Lots of Oscar, Reuben, Theo, Teddy, Freddie for boys. I can't remember the last time someone announced a boy name that wasn't one of these.

Girls are more varied but lots of Ava/Evie/Ivy/Isla sounds.

I have a 1 year old Matilda and despite everyone on here saying they know multiple, we have only met one other and she's 4.

Come across two Rex's recently and Ida/Ada/Ava is very popular in my area...

Then, just from round my town, I hear Ava, Amelia, Sienna (any girls name ending in A really!) and for boys I hear Harry, Charlie, Oscar, Lucas, Theo, Leo, Max, etc.

On the website for Office of National Statistics you can search for a name and select your region on a map for a more locally accurate idea. For example, Arthur is a very popular name in most areas, but there were less than three born in my area last year.
