I am due in a few weeks, I already have a 3 year old called Pearl. We are having a boy and we are finding it hard to agree on names! So far:

Sullivan
Sylvester/Sylver
Gabriel
Oscar
Ray
Chester

Please feel free to add to the list!

Iamneverfull plantpotting

Surname - Rafferty
Son - Dexter (would have been Pearl)
Dog - Otis (because we went for Dexter for son)

And my Dexter was born in January too, almost 15yrs ago x

midsomermurderess · 12/12/2019 18:57

Stanley or Vincent.

fishonabicycle · 12/12/2019 19:05

I have a girl can called Pearl - and a boy cat called Sherbet!

fishonabicycle · 12/12/2019 19:05

Er, cat, not can 😳

fishonabicycle · 12/12/2019 19:21

I would have said Dean, but someone beat me to it!

mrscatmad31 · 12/12/2019 19:22

I love Sylvester! Hubby wouldn't let me use it (and having a girl anyway!)

Mumshappy · 12/12/2019 19:26

Love Pearl.

NeedToKnow101 · 12/12/2019 19:28

I would have said Dean too.. Grin great to be born with your own theme tune.

milliefiori · 12/12/2019 19:29

I came on to say Gabriel and it's already on your list. Pearl and Gabriel are beautiful names that work so well together.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/12/2019 19:31

Pearl and Sullivan is just perfect. I also love Sully as a nn.

backouch · 12/12/2019 19:32

Aidan

lobsteroll · 12/12/2019 19:37

Love Gabriel and Chester. Oscar is very nice too.

How about Robin or Rory?

katy1213 · 12/12/2019 19:37

Reginald. It's due a comeback.

roiseandjim · 12/12/2019 19:56

Another vote for Pearl and Gabriel!

Iamneverfull · 12/12/2019 20:33

My partner liked Eric, Otis and Leo (i would use Leonardo) from the list. He also likes Ivo. Thank yiu for all your suggestions, wasn't expecting so many! Has been a great help!

Stanley will get shortened to Stan by a lot of people--it's an inevitable nickname. Do you like Stan on its own?

Nice thing about Otis and Eric is that they're names without a single nickname.

As for Leo, I'd do Leo straight up. It's a name in its own right (lion vs strong-as-a-lion), and unless you think he will want to have Leonardo as a backup, Leo is fine alone.

Nancydrawn · 13/12/2019 12:19

(By without a single nickname, I mean without having an inevitable nickname that is only one. Elizabeth has many nicknames; David really has one but it's not inevitable; Eric really doesn't have any. For names that only have one nickname, and that have an inevitable nickname, you have to like the nickname as much as the name.)
