Names that could be shortened to Sia

We love the name Sia, but i feel lits more of a nickname than standalone name, not to mention baby's last name also starts with an S. I thought about Lucia (Loo-See-A), but it's very popular, and we like names that are easy to pronouce etc... but a little off the beaten path.

baby's sister is Nieve, although popular in Ireland, fairly unheard of where we're from.

Anyone have any suggestions that could be shortened to Sia?

Thanks :)

Just use Sia. It doesn't sound like a nickname to me.

I love that someone ^^ suggests a name the OP has already suggested herself.

And written off.

In her actual OP.

As mentioned by previous posters, Lucia - and Luciano - are pronounced with an 's' sound in Spanish.

VenusClapTrap · 10/12/2019 23:02

Just call her Sia. It’s fine as it is.

Letthemysterybe · 10/12/2019 23:07

Lucia ain’t popular where I’m from. I’d use it, it’s lovely.

Gaffoolery · 13/12/2019 00:57

Thanks everyone, great suggestions, now just to agree on one!

Lucia is pronounced Lu-chee-ah

How about Sienna? Then the nicknem would be Sia, dripping the “en” part of the name.

Hi OP, Sia is lovely on its own. I'm also heavily in favour of putting on birth cert the name you will actually call them from born, rather than leaning towards a longer, more formal name for the sake of it. Have seen a lot more given names as: Charlie (not Charles), Libby (not Elizabeth) etc.

Go for it!

goodbye Grin "see ya" sia

Have you read the thread @Mumma4262 ?

In Spain it's pronounced Lu-sia

Mumma4262 · 13/12/2019 17:33

@MerchantOfVenom

Didn’t know the Spanish version. No need to be sarky!

MerchantOfVenom · 13/12/2019 18:24

It's been mentioned several times on a pretty short thread, so...
