Ada or Ayda?

What would you say is a better spelling? I would pronounce both the same, would you pronounce them differently?

Also, what's your thoughts on this name? It's one that's been in my mind for a few weeks now as potential for our baby girl due March 2020.

Ada. It was my grandmothers name!

I'd pronounce them the same. Rhyming with Ava.

Ada is definitely the better spelling. Ayda feels a bit unnecessary.

My grandmother and great-grandmother were both called Ada so I've always known how to pronounce it. I'd stick with Ada - most people have heard of it (due to Ada Lovelace) and if they do pronounce it wrong, you only have to tell them the right way. For what it's worth, I rather like it.

I'm not sure why anyone would need a phonetic spelling for a name as simple as Ada.

Ayda looks like a spelling mistake for Aida which is not pronounced the same way as Ada.

Yes me too. Some old fashioned names are beautiful but Ada, Gladys and Ethel are not amongst them.

If OP is set on it then at Aida is at least a real name with a cultural background rather than a spelling mistake.
