Cassandra... Any thoughts please?
( I keep thinking of Cassandra in ‘Only Fools & Horses’😳)
MissHenty · 13/11/2019 14:31
I like it but Cassie just sounds too like Gassy to me and makes the sound of the name unpleasant to me.
All the Cassandras I know have ended up being called Cassie even if they didn’t want to be
FriedasCarLoad · 13/11/2019 14:32
I wouldn’t choose in case no one ever believed her warnings
But it’s classic and pretty, and Cassie is a cute NN. And I love that it’s so rarely used without trying hard to be original. So overall, thumbs up
MikeUniformMike · 13/11/2019 14:33
It's ok. Not my choice but it's an old, old name and I know one who is really nice.
Cass, Cassie, Sandy...
hungryhippie · 13/11/2019 14:38
I actually like it. It sounds very classy.
GrumpyHoonMain · 13/11/2019 14:40
I like it but it often gets shortened to Sandra / Cass etc.
MindyStClaire · 13/11/2019 14:40
Sounds fine to me.
It's your niece's name, so I'd suggest you like it.
Chocmallows · 13/11/2019 14:43
I like it, but prefer it shortened to Cass.
bornonasunday · 13/11/2019 14:45
SiL not chosen final name, but this looks likely one. I didn’t know it was an old old name!
Spied · 13/11/2019 14:45
Awful.
Cassie would be ok as a stand alone name but no to Cassandra.
Sounds dated too. Early 90s.
LightDrizzle · 13/11/2019 14:46
Nice, but too doom-laden for me personally.
I like Cassie for short.
LemonPrism · 13/11/2019 15:52
I like it, normal name, Great mythology
EleanorShellstrop100 · 13/11/2019 16:33
I hate it but I love Cassia
Thetimetravelerswife · 13/11/2019 16:45
Not a fan at all, very old fashioned
BonBon411 · 13/11/2019 16:52
I knew a little girl-
Cassandra Suzanne-
I thought it was pretty.
NoSauce · 13/11/2019 17:30
Cassia is nicer.
florascotia2 · 13/11/2019 17:43
OP Here's the story of the famous ancient Cassandra. It's at least 2500 years old. She was a princess and a foreteller of the future. Alas, no-one believed her. Her story shows one form of female power, but is not particularly happy.

misspiggy19 · 13/11/2019 17:47
Dated and not a nice name
IckleBear · 16/11/2019 16:43
Dislike it but like Cassia
daisypond · 16/11/2019 16:55
I like it a lot. Ancient Greek. Lot of history and culture and myth behind it.
DoraleeRhodes · 16/11/2019 19:31
I like it, although prefer Cassidy personally.
ElvenMoonwings · 16/11/2019 20:52
I think it's a decent, classical name which had not been not too overused. I wouldn't rave about it, but there's nothing I'd think detrimental about it either.
viques · 16/11/2019 21:04
Cassia? Why would anyone call their child after a plant known for its laxative properties. BIt like calling her Exlax.
HelloDulling · 16/11/2019 21:09
Love it, but I do adore the old Grecian names.
ElvenMoonwings · 16/11/2019 21:22
It sounds like a good name for a psychic, because of how in Greek mythology Cassandra is a prophetess. Reminds me of a children's TV programme in the 1980s called The Haunting Of Cassandra Palmer; the character called that was the daughter of a medium and dreamed of being a world famous medium when she grew up.
PutThatDown10 · 02/12/2019 09:58
Beautiful classic name, not keen on variations of it or similar names like Cassia (which seems to be getting more popular) but Cassandra isn't over used and it sounds beautiful. It's a name that isn't too "oldy" but still classic, not many of those names about.
