Girls names that travel/age well?!

My husband and I have discussed girls names but nothing is really jumping out, we have a son who has an Irish name but to be honest there’s only a few Irish names for girls I like (Niamh and Maeve) and other family members have chosen them for their children already. I would actually like a name that travels well, suits someone of any age, a little bit uncommon but not faddy or out there.
So far these are the names my husband and I sort of agree on;

Nina
Molly
Francesca
Cara
Renée
Heidi

Names I like but he doesn’t;

Annie
Serena
Carina
Cora

Names he likes and I’m not overly fussed on;

Poppy
Abbie

Any ideas?!

I love Cara and it’s really easy internationally. Niamh is lovely, though possibly getting dated.

Isla causes confusion in a lot of countries due to the Isle sound and spelling. Comes out as Is.

DD2 is Louisa and that has travelled well in the three countries we have lived in (although it gets spelt Luisa a lot)

Susannah
Harriet
Judith
Jessica
Miriam
Adelaide
Elizabeth

Love Mariana but my husband prefers shorted names

Feel like Nisha, Anya and Cara fit the criteria really well. Nisha/Naoise is apparently a boys name but I only knew a girl named Naoise.

I love Renee. It's relatively unusual now, suits all ages and travels well. Honestly I'd hate to be an adult called Molly, Poppy at al.

LarkDescending · 09/11/2019 15:57

Mara? I know a lovely Irish-American one but don’t know how popular it is in Ireland.

Leahd89 · 09/11/2019 16:43

Mara is lovely and different

Love Renée, very sophisticated and classic, my husbands favourite name
Maybe Nina Renée or Renée something? Not sure what middle name would work with Renée

Sara pronounced sa-rah not ser-ah would be a great name. It's used in so many countries, timeless and not over used.... Only problem you might get is people pronouncing it as Sarah or zara.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 09/11/2019 17:04

Emma
Sarah
Charlotte (Lottie)
Lucy
Amy/Aimee

I think your name list is lovely, however I think these work best for your criteria:
Francesca
Cara / Mara
Heidi

All classic beautiful names that I think would be recognised internationally.

I don't think names with an accent like Renée travel well at all. It's going to be a right pain! You could have it as a middle name though I suppose. Tamsin is a shortening of Thomasina, that could be a nice middle name to honour your mum.

Alexandra

Leahd89 · 09/11/2019 18:21

Tamsin is one I hadn’t even thought of, I like it but don’t think it goes with our surname

Maria works almost everywhere. Tamsin is lovely.
Anna and Emma travel ok too.

I love Tamsin and Polly from your new ideas, and Francesca, Molly and Cara from your first list.

May
Ingrid
Greta
Tessa
Anouk
Juno
Zelie
Astrid
Celeste
Chiara
Estelle
Leonor/e
Rowan
Petra

RomaineCalm · 09/11/2019 21:25

How about Roseanne? Can be shortened but similar to Róisín which I love but doesn't travel quite so well.

SwedishEdith · 09/11/2019 21:30

Lina
Mia
Pia
Cora
Tara

jfoyo26 · 09/11/2019 23:43

We went with Louise for these reasons...Still super popular as a middle name which keeps it current but rarely heard as a first name these days! Travels exceptionally well, it is very popular in several European countries and known most other places in the world. Suits all ages especially because of the cute and cool nicknames Lulu and LouSmile

Niamh is a beautiful name.

If you like Irish names and the name Eva, how about Aoife (pronounces like Eva but with an f)? Unusual-ish but its similarity to Eva means it would travel well...

mogtheexcellent · 10/11/2019 09:39

Emma. Used in European countries (france and Scandinavia) and popular in NI, not sure about Ireland.
