Which do you prefer? We don't like the nicknames much for Edward so would be called Edward not Teddy, Ed, Eddie etc.

Edward - love it

Probably go for Henry if you don't like the nns for Edward. You can't really shorten Henry, and as far as I'm concerned the variety of nns for Edward is one of the best things about the name. You'll be able to keep him as Edward while he's small but I don't believe you will once he goes to school because it's too tempting. Henry is a good name.

I prefer Henry

Trustmeimamidwife · 07/11/2019 19:54

Edward but I like both

DramaAlpaca · 07/11/2019 19:55

If you don't like the diminutives of Edward I wouldn't choose it, because they'd be inevitable.

If you're bothered about nicknames for Edward use Henry. When he gets older his friends aren't going to call him Edward all the time, he himself will want to be Eddie by the time he hits 12.

Edward in its entirety.

Lavenderblues · 07/11/2019 20:36

Neither but I'd choose Edward if I had to choose

Greenvalleymama · 07/11/2019 20:36

Henry!

BlueRaincoat89 · 07/11/2019 20:53

I much prefer Henry

I much prefer Edward, Henry could always be changed to Harry 🤷🏻‍♀️
Unfortunately you can't control what other people at school will call them, just because you would always call your son Edward, doesn't mean he won't be known as Ed or such like at school, same as there is a Henry in my sons year who was known as Harry and now they are teenagers is called hazza

Makes sense to use Henry if you don't like the nicknames for Edward. Both are lovely names.
