I'm sorry, but I think it's horrible. I can't stand the 'Prim' bit & like a pp it reminds me of Harold Shipman's wife. So it wouldn't be for me.

Pussinboots25 · 06/11/2019 20:23

Another vote for Primrose and I love Prim.
Primrose Eve is really cute.

bridgetreilly · 06/11/2019 21:27

Primrose Claire
Primrose Dorothy
Primrose Eleanor
Primrose Ruth
Primrose Hope

Primrose is great and love it with Flora. Primrose Beatrice does sound a bit heavy to me.

Primrose Blanche (still too heavy?)
Primrose Eleanor
Primrose Clemency
Primrose Mercy
Primrose Portia
Primrose Edith
Primrose Thea
Primrose Clara
Primrose Margaux

Love it, always have. Both the full name and nicknames Prim and/or Rose/Rosie.

notacooldad · 06/11/2019 23:48

I like Primrose.
Why doyou have to have a second name?
I don't understand the need to have a second name just for the sake of it. Sure if you are naming after a grandma but to actively ask for names that 'go' with first name doesn't make sense to me.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 07/11/2019 00:39

It’s not a second name it’s a middle name and it’s extremely common.

Where I live and also where I was brought up the words 'second name' and 'middle name' meant the same thing. I know what it is. I also know it is very common. I have one, so does one of my brothers but not one of the others. My point was I can understand using a middle name to honour a grandparent or someone significant but what is the point of having one just for the sake of it, especially when you have to ask if names 'go together' what is up with just calling a child, say 'Primrose'?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 07/11/2019 10:49

People can often substitute a second or middle name for a first for several reasons, to delineate between their business and personal life for example. It's an advantage to have two.

For e.g. Meghan Markle is actually Rachel Meghan Markle but chooses the more unusual Meghan to label herself. Makes sense considering she was an actress and MM is more memorable. Plus means those she trusts in private can call her Rachel.

I have 2 middle names. One is a traditional family name handed down to all first born girls. I use them both to maintain my privacy. Plus when I had my own business I used my 2nd name to front it and it's great for having different google emails not leastGrin

Grin

You sound like a barrel of laughs! IT MEANS THE SAME THING.

OP had you considered Primrose Hairsplitter?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 07/11/2019 10:58

Other suggestions

Primrose Nimue
Primrose Aurora
Primrose Ophelia
Primrose Sky
Primrose Willow

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 07/11/2019 11:07

Well technically if we are splitting hairs, the term '2nd name' was more standard if you had just one other name. But the term 'middle name' would be used more commonly if you have more than one other 'christian' name. It wasn't uncommon for people to have 3 or more at one time. I myself have 2 middle names so never really say '2nd name'. My cousin has 5 middle names. My Aunt tried to please every grandparent and it was the early 80s in her defence.

Love Primrose

Primrose Anna

Mrs Shipman for me too

WeshMaGueule · 09/11/2019 14:48

Mrs Shipman here too. Awful name, sorry, mousy and downtrodden.

TempsPerdu · 09/11/2019 21:08

Clearly in the minority here but I really dislike it - don’t like the ‘Prim’ sound and find it rather clunky and twee. But no name is universally liked so I say go with it if you love it!

Mammabear111 · 09/11/2019 21:12

It's beat

MondeoFan · 09/11/2019 21:16

I like it, I know one and she's super cute and the name really suits her. She's known as Prim

raspberrymolakoff · 10/11/2019 16:01

I know a Primrose who has never been called anything but Primrose. I love your Primrose Beatrice suggestion OP.

VenusClapTrap · 11/11/2019 11:47

Love it. I’d use a family name as a middle name, or something with one syllable. I think Primrose Jane is very elegant.

Batmanandrobin123 · 12/11/2019 16:36

Love it

KronksSpinachPuffs · 14/11/2019 09:22

I'm not personally keen on Beatrice but it does go with primrose I think! Good choice.

I personally think it needs quite a long middle name to balance it so how about:

Primrose Elizabeth
Primrose Adelaide
Primrose Victoria
Primrose Alexandra
Primrose Juliet (or Juliette)
Primrose Marguerite
Primrose Octavia
Primrose Olympia
