I love this name but no one I know has heard of it.

Pronounced Fair-a-lin

Think I'll tell sis not to bother! I actually suggested Eden 😊

rainbowstardrops · 31/10/2019 11:08

My first thought was feral!
I love Eden though

cushioncovers · 31/10/2019 11:09

Sounds like an iron supplement sorry.

MyKingdomForBrie · 31/10/2019 11:10

I thought of iron supplement too! If you love it though it's perfectly fine as a name.

shellysheridan · 31/10/2019 11:12

It's too close to feral and ferret I think.

yellowallpaper · 31/10/2019 11:28

I suppose when the midwich cuckoos was written kids weren't described as 'ferrel' 😂

GhoulieBat · 31/10/2019 11:31

Sorry but I'm with everyone else (and I like weird names!). I just think ferrets and medication. Which could of course make it the perfect name for your DD, depending on her career choices :o but more likely she'll hate it.

GhoulieBat · 31/10/2019 11:31

oops your Dsis's DD I mean...

tiggertogger · 31/10/2019 11:33

🤣 Eden is much better

Reallybadidea · 31/10/2019 12:09

It actually IS a medication. It doesn't work as a baby name IMO.

morporkia · 31/10/2019 12:12

Sounds like an industrial rust remover

ReallyLoveChickens · 31/10/2019 12:13

Sounds like an iron tablet

Lol!

formerbabe · 31/10/2019 12:15

Before I even read the replies I also thought it sounded like an iron supplement

SuperMeerkat · 31/10/2019 12:35

Dreadful name. Are you sure you didn’t mishear Evelyn? If not, go for that as it’s very similar.

SoupDragon · 31/10/2019 12:44

Another vote for an iron supplement!

FizzyGreenWater · 31/10/2019 13:09

I'm done with babies!

If you've recently been reading The Midwich Cuckoos then that's a perfectly normal reaction Grin

Yes I remember it from there too. Hmm, not sure I'd use it.

bridgetreilly · 31/10/2019 13:38

I would not be naming any child of mine after a character in the Midwich Cuckoos, even if it was a lovely name. Which it isn't.

yellowallpaper · 31/10/2019 13:44

Shown this to Dsis, and when she'd finished laughing, she agreed Ferrelyn is out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

fizzy. Good point!

Limer · 31/10/2019 13:53

Ferrelyn in The Midwich Cuckoos had one of the alien babies, and that baby died (I know they all died in the end, but hers died unexpectedly as a result of an infectious disease I think).

Naomimi · 31/10/2019 14:29

Ferelith is a Scottish name which I rather like, for a similar sound? Lots will hate that too though I’m sure Blush

Astronica · 01/11/2019 02:34

I was also coming in to mention Ferelith - much nicer than Ferrelyn I think.

I think one of the Queen Mother's ancestors had Ferelith in her name and a (now deceased) cousin of the Queen was Anne Ferelith Fenella Bowes-Lyon ( Princess Anne of Denmark).

VanyaHargreeves · 01/11/2019 02:55

You'd have to spell it as you want it sounded as people will automatically go

Feral-un with that spelling and then

Feral?!

You're called Feral ?!

FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE

VanyaHargreeves · 01/11/2019 02:57

X posted very sensibly ruled out OPs Sis

Badabingbadabum · 01/11/2019 08:46

It does sound like a pet flea and tick treatment.

Ferelith is nice. Or if you like the Lyn sound how about Farrah Lyn?

HelpImStressed · 01/11/2019 10:07

First thing I thought was “ferret”? Nice name when you know how to say it , but you are probably setting your dd of explaining how to say her name
