My shortlist so far:

Avery
Lindsey
Frances
Ellen

I'm in my 20s looking to change my name to a more versatile one that fits into the hipster/film director vibe but also works on CEO/Wall Streeters/court judges.

Please help me narrow down the list and suggest some (not-so-girly) names! Thanks!

Not a fan of any of those really. I like the idea of using initials.

ktcs · 31/10/2019 04:32

@guanoloco Probably not as my initial has too many syllables (something like XW), but thank you for your suggestion

Nova - as means "new", is very apt for your change of name!

Simple, so goes with anything.
Used more now, I think, yet still a bit different.

Can't imagine it raising eyebrows in any profession/situation.

I like Ellen from your list.

IggyAce · 31/10/2019 06:44

Like Avery and Ellen from your list, some suggestions:
Addison
Max
Frankie

daisypond · 31/10/2019 06:48

Frances and Ellen are very much girl names, though. Both are great.
Jane. Is unusual these days.
Joan.

Onekidnoclue · 31/10/2019 06:52

How about Jo? Or Frankie? kat?

ktcs · 31/10/2019 07:34

@daisypond Frances and Ellen sound less girly to me than other versatile options (like Sarah?). Joan sounds cool to me, thanks

Kit?
Sam?

MikeUniformMike · 31/10/2019 15:47

Joni

MikeUniformMike · 31/10/2019 15:49

Lindsey is a 1960/70's name, so will give people the impression that you are a woman in her 40s.
How about something like Nico?

RandDandC · 31/10/2019 16:46

Logan

MikeUniformMike · 31/10/2019 16:53

Rowan

Lilyannarose · 31/10/2019 17:22

Billie or Bobbi?
Toni?
Ashleigh?

bridgetreilly · 31/10/2019 18:20

I would say that Frances and Ellen both sound quite girly to me.

Maybe consider:
Brooke
Wren
Hero

BelfastmummyL · 31/10/2019 18:41

Alex
Ash
Sam
Charlie
Drew
Aubrey
Frankie
Sloan

Astronica · 01/11/2019 02:45

I wouldn't use Avery from your list as it's very popular with babies right now (and I don't much like it.) The other 3 are all really good names. Joan is cool.

Not unisex, but not so girly in sounds:

Rowan
Tamsin/Tamasin
Roberta
Ingrid
Rhian
Morven
Rhiannon

Crunched · 01/11/2019 02:48

Robyn or Harley?

Kittynapper · 01/11/2019 02:50

Hillary/Hilary

ktcs · 01/11/2019 07:15

Thanks so much for all your suggestions! Joan, Rowan, Nico, Brooke sound lovely to me. How do you think of the names:

Casey (a true unisex name?)
Lauren (sounds less girly to me)
Kristin (can be short for Kris so it's also cool)

Think I should also note that it's just my personal taste to have a not-so-girly name. Really didn't mean to associate gender-neutral names with success Confused peace

@MikeUniformMike Thanks for providing the impression! It's very useful that I immediately cross "Lindsey" off my list.

Freddie. Lauren is a clear girl's name for me!

lowlandLucky · 01/11/2019 07:33

Alexis

MikeUniformMike · 02/11/2019 14:10

Robyn
Saskia
Sasha
Ripley

Thesunrising · 02/11/2019 14:19

Definitely not Avery. Sounds too much like Ovary or Aviary.
