What do you think? It’s for my 2nd son. I’m ok with it being a surname as well (which is strange as I don’t like a lot of surname names)... any other comments or similar name suggestions?

I don't like it but if you do then go for it.

spice3 · 27/10/2019 08:56

I like it more for a girl than a boy.

diddlediddle · 27/10/2019 18:28

I'm not a fan of surname names in general but I actually don't mind spencer. I definitely would assume a boy not a girl. It makes me think of Made in Chelsea but not a bad thing. If you like it go for it.

hellotabitha · 27/10/2019 20:05

I like it!

neighbourhoodwitch · 27/10/2019 20:05

Love it.

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2019 20:06

Hate it.

DappledThings · 27/10/2019 20:22

A friend of mine had a Spencer. Another friend I told replied, "Why? Has she given birth to an estate agent?"

I now always think that when I hear the name. I'm not a fan.

VenusClapTrap · 27/10/2019 20:46

Frank Spencer. No.

AuntyElle · 27/10/2019 20:49

I really like it. It’s not unusual in NZ, but obviously is in UK.

WobblyLondoner · 27/10/2019 21:29

A certain generation (over 50s) will just think "oooooh Betty" I'm afraid .. That would put me off.

1234512345Meh · 27/10/2019 21:31

What’s the Betty thing?! Confused

OP posts:
WobblyLondoner · 27/10/2019 21:36

Frank Spencer, one of the 1970s most unattractive male characters. Makes me cringe still thinking about him though I'm sure there were worse. Betty was his long-suffering wife.

This, but ignore it, OP. Ancient!

Jossina · 28/10/2019 03:45

Sounds fine.

1234512345Meh · 28/10/2019 07:59

If it’s his surname, I’ll move on from that Smile

However, I also like Cameron but don’t want the DC connection...

Grin I'm 38 and always think "Ooh Betty" when I hear Spencer!

However I do know a young Spencer, who's a lovely little boy and has made me warm to it a bit more.
As long as your first son isn't called Mark or Frank then go for it OP!

MrsBertBibby · 28/10/2019 08:17

Dislike it a lot. As a PP said, it's an estate agent name.

MyKingdomForBrie · 28/10/2019 08:18

I wouldn't think of the DC connection from it as a first name.

mondler · 28/10/2019 16:14

Ive met a baby Spencer and liked the name x
