Confused with best spelling for Adalynne

Hi, I love the name Adalynne - would you pronounce that Add-a-lin?
But now the more I've looked into that name the more I'm confused about the possible spellings:

Adalynne
Adalynn
Adalyn

But there's also Adeline which I would pronounce differently as add-eh-line but I'm starting to like that too.

What's the most common/well known spelling and how would you pronounce them?
Thanks

I think Adalynne is pronounced Ay-da-lin [that middle syllable is a schwa]

Adelynne would be Add-e-lin [again, a schwa in the middle]

Adeline I would go with -leen, as in Pauline rather than Caroline.

What about Adelaide? One of my favourites.

Alan Ladd?
Aladdin?
That's what my brain makes of the y names.

Adeline is nice.

KirstyT11 · 26/10/2019 17:52

I would pronounce it add-a-lin

I had Adaline on my girls list, I puch preferred the 'line's pronunciation... I really didn't like the 'lin' way. We decided to not use it as I didnt want to or have her grow up to have to be correcting spelling and pronunciation etc.

I still love the name tho.

Is it actually a name?

Adeline is nicer IMO.

It sounds pretty, but it just makes me think of addling too. A bit like giving your baby 'Stultifying' as a name.

Adalene

All of those spellings are currently popular in the US and the first 3 will give you the pronunciation you want. I'm not a fan of any of them but would definitely see Adalyn as the best option.

I have a normal name with an unusual spelling. It's shit, don't do that to your child, it irritates me on a daily basis that people spell it wrong even in an email that has the correct spelling in my address.

I actually changed mine by deed poll to the normal spelling.

Fairybobbin · 28/10/2019 01:43

I didn't realise that name would be so unheard of or unpopular. Coincidently we are considering Adelaide more now.

I love Adelaide, and think it's a much more attractive option.

TheMistressQuickly · 28/10/2019 05:23

How about Evelyn instead?

mathanxiety · 28/10/2019 05:35

Adalynn is how I would spell it. I'm in the US and it's very popular. Or it was about ten years ago.

But I like Adelaide a lot more. It sounds much fresher and newer even though it's a classic name, and you'll never have any pronunciation issues with it.

I love Adelaide

Thought I’d comment as my dd is Adeline! Pronounced as you said it and never had a problem with people pronouncing. I love it of course! She is the only one we know and I know no Adalyn’s of any spelling. lovely name but I prefer Adeline because it is more classic imo
