Are these sibling names too similar?

Help, the only names I love for my next baby boy seem too close to my son's name. My son is called Eisa (pronounced eesa). I love the name Elias, but worried it looks too similar? The pronunciation is very different but I am worried about the same use of letters. I also like Isaac but worry this sounds similar as well. Any advice? Thank you....

Lovely names but too similar for my tastes.
Do you like Elijah?

Neome · 25/10/2019 00:31

Ciaran?

Blackbear19 · 25/10/2019 00:35

Far too similar. I'd opt for a name with a different first initial or you'll have two Mr E Fish

BabyItsAWildWorld · 25/10/2019 00:35

Too similar.
You like them because you like Eisa, you need something different but complementary.

DramaAlpaca · 25/10/2019 00:38

The pronunciation is so different that I think it's fine. I don't mind the similar letters, in fact I like it with these two names. So I say go for it.

Isaac is definitely too similar in sound.

MissHenty · 25/10/2019 02:41

I think the pronunciation is more Important that the letters

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 25/10/2019 07:00

Lovely names. They sound very different to pronounce, so use them both! If you can cope with the post for the parents of master E surname... Being on tenterhooks until they're open Grin
Love Elias, I think it goes nicely with eisa.

Shagged · 25/10/2019 07:02

Elias does look too similar written down

Isaac is fine though imho

MrsBertBibby · 25/10/2019 07:06

Tobias?

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 25/10/2019 07:09

Elias and Eisa look similar when written but so what? What difference does it make to life if they do? How often do you go around writing both children’s names and why is it a problem if they have the same letters?

The names don’t even begin with the same sound. They actually only have one sound in common so sound like completely names when said aloud.

betternamepending · 25/10/2019 07:10

Please don't. It sounds like you are naming your second son after your first. He deserves his own name.

People have told me to find it a faff if siblings have the same initial. I don't know how much of a faff it is (mail and hospital appointments at least but maybe more) but always kept it in mind,

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 25/10/2019 07:10

Sorry they have two sounds similar but in all in different places in the name.

DeeAndMe · 25/10/2019 07:11

They look similar when written down but so what, they sound completely different. I don't see the problem with identical initials. Isaac is too similar to Eisa though.

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 25/10/2019 07:13

All of my children’s NHS letters have their first and last name on. What top secret post will a child be getting that can’t be seen by a parent or sibling? “Here is your car tax reminder Elias, sorry I opened it.” “Thank you Eisa”
Works for me.

Tidy2018 · 25/10/2019 07:17

Choose a name with a different initial. I have two with the same initial, both of whom had regular hospital appts. I had to take both of them to one of the appts because there was no way of knowing which child had the appt.

On the other hand, both your names are lovely, and sound very different.

AtiaoftheJulii · 25/10/2019 07:31

All the hospital appt letters we've ever had have given the child's full name plus date of birth and NHS number!

Also if you couldn't work it out, you could just phone and ask.

I avoided repeating initials, but more because there will be other times when you want to use initials for convenience. Letters aren't a major problem.

Blackbear19 · 25/10/2019 08:53

I wasn't so much thinking of them getting mail as children, more when they are in their teens and twentys if they are still living at home.

When yes mail can be a bit more personal and they not want others to read it.

Littleelf1 · 25/10/2019 11:28

I think they complement each other. Beautiful names

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 25/10/2019 11:35

I think they work really well together.

shivbo2014 · 25/10/2019 11:48

I think they're perfect together... Totally different names!

diddlediddle · 25/10/2019 19:01

They're far too similar! Especially as both boys... at first I thought Eisa was a girl and I was going to say it was bad enough even then. Are these people who are saying it's fine just trolling you? Madness! Agree with PP saying you like Elias subconsciously because it reminds you of Eisa. Plenty of alternatives out there!

bridgetreilly · 25/10/2019 19:05

I think Elias is okay. Isaac sounds too similar.

greyspottedgoose · 25/10/2019 19:05

I don't think they are too similar, I think they go well together.

I expected Jack & jake or Joe & Joel when I saw the title 🙊

titnomatani · 25/10/2019 19:06

Fantastic Arab/Biblical names. I might just steal Elias for my own baby (sorry)! As for similar- I don't thing they are- other than the initials. Eisa- pronounced Eeesaah and Elias pronounced Ellyass- I think they're fine. Good choice.

diddlediddle · 25/10/2019 19:10

Also yes Isaac is also too close. Just choose something different OP!!
