My favourite uncle was called this - I like it.

themiddleismyhome · 21/10/2019 20:18

My nephew is a sonny, at first I was Hmm but now I love it, he's such a sweet and happy boy and it really suits him.

GetTheSprinkles · 21/10/2019 20:28

Big yes from me. Unusual and cute. I liked both this and Sol for DS but DP refused

BertrandRussell · 21/10/2019 20:31

Would a 50 year old man really want to be called Sonny?

DisappointingBanana · 21/10/2019 20:33

he's such a sweet and happy boy and it really suits him

But what about when he's a grumpy old man?

EdWinchester · 21/10/2019 20:34

It's a silly nickname. Ludicrous on an adult.

FriedasCarLoad · 21/10/2019 20:35

Prefer Sonny to Sonni.

But really don’t like either as a forename -as a PP said, it’s cute on a very young child but (to my ears) faintly ridiculous for a grown man.

AdaColeman · 21/10/2019 20:38

It's alright for a toddler, but I don't think it works well for an adult.

FriedasCarLoad · 21/10/2019 20:43

Meant to add:

Given it’s cute on a young child, it’d make an adorable nickname.

ilovetofu · 21/10/2019 20:44

Makes me think of a Walkman.

MidnightMystery · 21/10/2019 20:45

Lovely name x

DisappointingBanana · 21/10/2019 20:46

Needs the middle name "Jim" of course.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 21/10/2019 20:46

My last dog was called Sunny, would have possibly used it for a child’s name if I hadn’t used it first for the dog.

EdWinchester · 21/10/2019 20:47

Sonni is even worse. Silly name with idiotic spelling.

user1493494961 · 21/10/2019 20:53

Children with these types of name can be memorable for the wrong reasons.

CarolDanvers · 21/10/2019 20:55

The naughtiest child I ever met, now completely off the rails as a teen is called Sonny.

GeoffreyAndBungle · 21/10/2019 20:58

I think it's cute for a toddler but don't think it works for a teen or adult.

The only Sonny I know isn't 'sunny' at all - rather miserable in fact.

VenusClapTrap · 22/10/2019 10:44

Terrible.

Chottie · 22/10/2019 11:07

Sorry, it's a big no from me.

It makes me think of the expression 'alright son?'

Appalling, and demeaning and humiliating for your child, teenager, 50-something, etc. Use it as a nickname.

devilishlygood · 22/10/2019 20:21

Absolutely LOVE it, right under Rudy as our second choice if we have a boy next week!! 😊

Spied · 22/10/2019 20:25

Love

Toojudgypants · 22/10/2019 20:27

I like it.

Littledidsheknow · 22/10/2019 20:41

Bloody awful.

Fine as a nickname for a young boy; cringeworthy as the real, official actual name of a grown man.
