I heard a little girl with this name and I thought it was very cute. Any thoughts?

Love it!

Know one.

She's lovely Grin

Mishappening · 19/10/2019 21:57

Yup - love it.

Twickerhun · 19/10/2019 21:58

Love it.

Ohyesiam · 19/10/2019 21:59

Very cute and definite, but as a great shortening for Elizabeth.

AthollPlace · 19/10/2019 22:01

Where I live it’s a word that little girls use for their privates.

DramaAlpaca · 19/10/2019 22:02

Going against the grain here, I really don't like it. The word 'cute' sums up what's wrong with it, cutesy & twee. It's sweet on a toddler I suppose, but as an adult woman I'd hate to be called Betsy.

fluffygal · 19/10/2019 22:03

My friend just named her daughter Betsy. Not for me but I don't judge people's names, choose what you like!

fairybeagle · 19/10/2019 22:04

I absolutely love this name. It would have been DS2's name if he was a girl. We would have used Elizabeth with nn Betsy

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 19/10/2019 22:04

I know a few - seems to be popular for kids around dd’s age. (She’s 9.)

I like it as a shortening for Elizabeth. Not so keen on it as a name on its own - it is indeed very cute but you may not want to be cute when you are 37.

The great thing about the name Elizabeth is that it has loads of lovely shortenings. (We nearly used it for dd.)

Lolimax · 19/10/2019 22:06

I love it, and the Welsh variation Betsan.

MoaningMyrtle96 · 19/10/2019 22:09

Superb name choice!

SallyWD · 19/10/2019 22:10

I don't like it. Too cutesy. I see everyone else loves it though!

december20100 · 19/10/2019 22:15

Thank you for your comments, I do see the point of it being a little to cutesy. But thank you again.

I don’t like it, or similar names like Elsie, Nancy, Tilly, Dolly... Sorry! Too twee for me.

Tillygetsit · 20/10/2019 00:36

It makes me think of a bunny.

NoSauce · 20/10/2019 00:55

I think it’s terrible.

Ihateedmundelephant · 20/10/2019 05:57

Love it! But hate Elizabeth.

Twooter · 20/10/2019 06:53

What drama said.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 20/10/2019 06:57

Cute is a bad thing.

KatherineJaneway · 20/10/2019 06:59

I'd assume she was named Elizabeth and Betsy was her nickname.

ArtisanPopcorn · 20/10/2019 07:02

Far too twee

AliciaMayEmory · 20/10/2019 07:15

I know a Betsy in her 70's. She hates her name. She was embarrassed by it as a child and never wanted to tell people her name. I think it's a lovely name, but can see why she doesn't like it as there isn't really anywhere to go from it, the only shortening being 'Bet', which conjurs up images of Bet Lynch for her age range!

RainWoman19 · 20/10/2019 07:41

Love it, but I never used to until my friend gave this name to her daughter so now I love it.

Lavenderblues · 20/10/2019 07:46

It sounds like a bunny - Betsy Bunny. It also reminds me of Itsy bitsy. So I think it's way too twee and silly sounding for a grown person.

But fine as an occasional nickname for Elizabeth (amongst close family)
