Daisie?

Is it ok to spell it like this instead of with a y? I don't know why but I just prefer it. I don't want to look too "try hard" though. Is it common to be spelt this way too or just weird?

Sorry, it just doesn't look right. I have never seen it spelled that way either, and I've seen quite a lot of names that are usually ending in 'y' in 'ie' (former primary school teacher).

Tillygetsit · 09/10/2019 22:25

I personally have never seen your spelling and prefer the original Daisy.

RightOnTheEdge · 09/10/2019 22:26

I think it looks strange but maybe because I have a Daisy and so it just looks wrong to me.

NannyR · 09/10/2019 22:26

I've never come across daisy spelled that way but I suppose you could, after all Maisie is an a!most identical name that is more commonly spelled with an -ie.
I think she would have a lifetime of correcting people about the spelling of her name though, which does get very annoying (speaking from experience!)

ballsdeep · 09/10/2019 22:27

I don't understand why people have to change the spelling? It looks weird.

PurpleDaisies · 09/10/2019 22:27

No.

Ohyesiam · 09/10/2019 22:28

Dreadful

0lga · 09/10/2019 22:28

No

Walnutwhipster · 09/10/2019 22:28

Dreadful spelt that way, sorry.

C0untDucku1a · 09/10/2019 22:28

Well, no. It’s ridiculous.

Chocmallows · 09/10/2019 22:29

Looks like a spelling mistake.

hoodiemum · 09/10/2019 22:31

If I was in your shoes, I'd worry that people would think I didn't know how to spell the flower properly and had just got it wrong.

NoSquirrels · 09/10/2019 22:31

Unfortunately, you’ll just look like you don’t know how to spell it properly, and your DD will spend a lifetime correcting people and institutions. I wouldn’t, if I were you.

SpaceDinosaur · 09/10/2019 22:34

Daisy is a flower

Daisies is the plural

Daisie just looks like a bodged plural to me I'm afraid

ohbabygirl · 09/10/2019 22:36

I have seen it this way before, I haven't completely made it up. I know it's uncommon to be spelt this way but was just curious if other people thought it looked strange. It looks a bit odd to me too but also think it's quite cute. Don't know why I don't like it with a YConfused

Thanks all, wont be using it. I wouldn't want people frowning upon my child's name, or thinking I can't spell. I have well and truly been put off, probably for the best Grin I blame hormones

It's weird.

Wavyheaded · 09/10/2019 22:49

I think it's cute too. It's not as pretty with a Y, IMO.

PixieDustt · 09/10/2019 22:50

I know a Daisey.
Never really gave it a second thought in all honesty.

DramaAlpaca · 09/10/2019 22:59

Daisy is bad enough (very twee) but Daisie is even worse. And it looks odd.

peachypetite · 09/10/2019 23:03

No. Stick with Daisy if you must.

HeadintheiClouds · 09/10/2019 23:04

It looks as if you can’t spell, tbh. Awful.

Conkerer · 09/10/2019 23:09

I know a Daisie. It's stupid.

Chocmallows · 09/10/2019 23:19

How about Maisy?

MissHenty · 10/10/2019 05:38

Think you’ve made the right decision @ohbabygirl Daisie doesn’t look right. Plus a daisy is such a lovely flower, I wouldn’t want to take away the names gorgeous meaning

MissHenty · 10/10/2019 05:39

How about

Edith (Eddie)
Ottilie (Ottie)
Clementine (Clemmie)
Margaret (Maggie)
Emmie

If you like an “ie” ending?
