We are struggling with names, what we like no one else seems to. We have mixed Cornish/Welsh heritage and would like a nature based name but looking for suggestions as we already have friends with Rose and Iris.

So far we have
Elowen - means Elm tree but no one seems to like it.
Derwa
Rozenwyn
Caja
Willow
Glesni (not strictly nature I know)
Seren
Eirian

Elowen - means Elm tree but no one seems to like it. - I like it but is it El-O-wen or EL-ow-en?
Derwa - don't know it. not keen
Rozenwyn - No. Makes me think of Llaeth Enwyn
Caja - googoo
Willow - ok
Glesni (not strictly nature I know) - nice but Gles isn't
Seren - no
Eirian - nice, a bit of a 1960s name. Difficult to say if you don't speak Welsh - will be Erriun. (It's similar to Ehr-yan)

I like Lowenna.

MikeUniformMike · 10/10/2019 10:09

I meant Eyr-yan. -a bit like the letter a with an r on the end.

Derwen is nicer than Derwa, but it will get Duhr-wun, not the correct DERR-wenn pronunciation. It's not a name, but means oak tree.

I like Elowen and Rozenwyn but prefer the Rosenwyn spelling

Isn't "wyn" a masculine ending, though, and the feminine ending "wen"?

Anyway, OP I like Elowen best out of your list. It's lovely.

Elowen is a lovely name.

missmouse101 · 17/10/2019 21:00

Elowen is awful. Like the letters L. O. N. Lowenna is much lovelier. Tesni? Hazel? Bryony?

MissHenty · 17/10/2019 21:41

To me Elowen is a horrible name and I’m glad it’s not my name

Elo (hello) as nickname?

Sounds like Eloquent.

I absolutely love Elowen!

My favourite Welsh nature name is Enfys.

MerryMarigold · 18/10/2019 04:23

I love the name Loveday if you have Cornish. Also Tamsin is nice.

Elowen is pretty, sounds like something in lord of the rings! Also Willow is pretty. And I've always liked Robyn.
