Is this name too long?

I like keep a name journal for whenever the day comes. But one name I can't decide. We like two middle names but we don't know what is too long. So here it goes. We have no idea if this name is too long. Warning my name style is kinda weird but found them through pinterest and fell in love.
Nezrin Temperance Breija Burns.

Yes. Imagine the stick that poor child will get

MikeUniformMike · 28/09/2019 16:06

The combination is a bit strange. Is it for a girl or for a boy?
The poor child might grow up to be a hardened drinker.

Faultymain5 · 28/09/2019 16:07

No it's not too long.

But one of my DC has 4 names and a 16 letter surname.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/09/2019 16:09

It's not necessarily too long, but personally I think it's awful. Temperance is just naf.

OtraCosaMariposa · 28/09/2019 16:10

My kids have two middle names each. They rarely use their full names. 99% of the time your child will be Nezrin Burns which isn't too long at all. Or by the time she's at school, Nez or Nezzie.

I knew a Tempi short for temperance and that is lovely but yr name is a bit... too, yeh, long, and there is nothing familiar in there at all.
Breija is like brujería 😆

passionfruit11 · 28/09/2019 16:11

Not so much the length but more the name itself

31RueCambon75001 · 28/09/2019 16:13

Nezrin Burns is like an injury. A chemical burn. Get it dressed!

What about Nadine Temperance
Or Tempi Nadine

Couchpotato3 · 28/09/2019 16:13

Nothing wrong with the names - I like unusual names too, but I would avoid the TB initials - go with BT instead?

user1493494961 · 28/09/2019 16:14

Maybe your child won't appreciate 'kinda weird'.

diddlediddle · 28/09/2019 16:17

Not too long, just horrible!

Didiusfalco · 28/09/2019 16:18

I think it’s sounds both odd and too long. Maybe go easy on the poor child by picking either odd or too long?

MyNewBearTotoro · 28/09/2019 16:26

I really like the name Nezrin, never heard of it before. Temperance isn’t to my style and I don’t think Breija is either, although not sure how it would be pronounced?

But yes, personally I think it’s too long and feels even more so because all of the names are unusual. It would be a nightmare to give over the phone etc as nobody would be able to spell it. Temperance is a very long name just by itself and I think a bit much if you’re going for 3 names. Personally I would get rid of Temperance and replace it with a name people are likely to be more familiar with, not necessarily a top 100 name but something less out there. You might like an unusual name but your child could hate it and might appreciate the option of using a more common middle name in the future.

SoupDragon · 28/09/2019 16:37

It's not too long. DD's has more letters and still fits on forms!

FizzyGreenWater · 28/09/2019 17:21

So you are not even pregnant and you have a name journal?

Knowing that I was completely unsuprised to see the long, messy, overthought explosion of words below your introduction.

No. Terrible.

Call her Sophie and be done with it.

Roozy123 · 28/09/2019 17:22

FizzyGreenWater agree lol.

ScrabbleInMyPants · 28/09/2019 17:24

Nezrin Burns sounds like a warning against an oven cleaner.

Maseandmum · 28/09/2019 17:24

It isn’t too long

BikeRunSki · 28/09/2019 17:26

I’ve got 25 letters in my name (2 middle names). My whole name rarely fits on forms, it’s ballcgsrf

HotChocolateLover · 28/09/2019 17:28

Seriously, just pick a classic. Charlotte, James etc. Your child will thank you in years to come, I can 100% guarantee it. These unusual names are all about the parents wanting to stand out and I often feel sad for the child.

Pipandmum · 28/09/2019 17:30

Other than Nezrin sounds like a cold medicine you can make the middle names as long as you like. No one much cares about it other than the parents and baby in question.

merryhouse · 28/09/2019 17:44

Nezrin sounds - to my totally ignorant ear - as if it's from a non-anglophone culture. Is it from your culture? If so then it's a good idea, easy for me to make a stab at the pronunciation and remember how to spell, and reasonably attractive.

The same applies to Breija, except it would be a different non-anglophone culture. I suppose it's entirely feasible that the putative child's parents come from these two cultures and met in Britain (where they decided to take on an english-sounding surname to make life easy Grin). Caveat that I'm assuming the "j" is more of a "y" sound which makes it a little less straightforward and if it isn't it's not as attractive.

Temperance is a very Puritan name - did you find it from an American? They may have an immigrating ancestor with the name. I'm not sure it's really a good idea. If you like the idea of Virtue names, perhaps Constance or Patience? Or Faith?

Oooh, I've just realised I've been assuming Nezrin Breija is a girl...

If you're actually just ordinary white British english-speaking then I would respectfully suggest definitely not Nezrin (because of the assumptions I made about it). Jasmine, perhaps? Or is that too Disney nowadays?

I don't actually have a problem with having a whole load of names (but then, I don't have a problem with a child being called Ellie-Mae either) but I think it would be better to have at least one being considered relatively normal in the community in which the child is being raised.

Oh my god 😂

this !

All those names are fine on their own, but they are completely different types and origins. They don’t complement each other, but instead fight for attention, so as a whole the name sounds chaotic. It’s not just too long, it’s too much.
