Honeymoon ‘name’

I have a while to worry about this as only 12 weeks!
For a boys name my husband and family like the name Romeo, I like it too however we went on our honeymoon to Rome in the summer and i just don’t know if it’s too ‘tacky’ to name a child after somewhere it was likely conceived!
Opinions please?! Wine

If you like the name then I dont think it matters. If you go out of your way to name them after the place they are conceived such as calling them Macclesfield for example then that's just weird. Can I also throw Roman into the mix. I love the name Roman.

BethanyGilbert · 28/09/2019 15:50

Would you consider just Rome? Was there a specific part of the holiday?

user1483387154 · 28/09/2019 15:52

no one will know where you conceived him unless you tell them.

Mummybares · 28/09/2019 15:52

So cringey.

LarkDescending · 28/09/2019 15:53

Unless you mention it, I doubt anyone will make the “conception” link.

I’d associate Romeo with Verona rather than Rome, anyway!

starlightmagic · 28/09/2019 16:07

🤞 I do like the name but a few people have already commented on a honeymoon baby, I think we will have to have a discussion and see how we feel when April comes!

Be grateful you didn't go to Bognor
Bog as a nn would be bloody awful!!

user1493494961 · 28/09/2019 16:11

Let's hope it's a girl.

diddlediddle · 28/09/2019 16:19

No one will remember where you went on honeymoon, nor will they connect it to the name. If anyone did, you could just be like, oh yes! I suppose there is a connection but that isn't the reason we liked it.

Not an issue.

peppinanna · 28/09/2019 16:48

I really like the name Romeo

thethoughtfox · 28/09/2019 17:02

Roman? This is an accepted name.

Livebythecoast · 28/09/2019 17:03

I love the name Romeo and Roman too.
Our DD is Holly but she wasn't conceived on a bed of Holly Shock.
If you and and DH like it, go with it! x

FairfaxAikman · 28/09/2019 17:07

DS is named after the town we married in. Unless you tell people that's where he was conceived they won't know - just say it was after your honeymoon and leave it at that.

FizzyGreenWater · 28/09/2019 17:18

Throw them off the scent by calling him Swindon.

Starrgreen72 · 28/09/2019 18:00

It’s nice don’t listen to strangers on here . How about roman ?

Bishbosh84 · 28/09/2019 18:14

Very Posh and Becks

QuinoaWest · 28/09/2019 20:38

"i just don’t know if it’s too ‘tacky’ to name a child after somewhere it was likely conceived!"

Well, we certainly didn't think so, and neither does our son Honda Civic.

Sorry, OP, I couldn't resist!

Joking apart, I very much doubt anyone will link the two, another 6 months on.

Use the name you love.

MissHenty · 28/09/2019 21:27

Use Romeo not Roman

Roman too popular now and is very likely to date. Has come from nowhere. On current trajectory will be top 10 in next couple of years

june2007 · 28/09/2019 21:28

I'd go for Romeo,

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/09/2019 21:32

Romeo is lovely
We joked about calling our honeymoon baby Barnaby ( we went to Barbados )
But she was conceived a bit later ❤️

GrannyHaddock · 28/09/2019 21:34

How about Romulus, but do you know your baby will be a boy? If it is a girl you can invoke your honeymoon with Melissa Luna.

Maseandmum · 28/09/2019 21:36

Use the name you love

Ohmydaysmate · 29/09/2019 02:10

WoolWich would be ours! Not where we had our honeymoon that came after getting pregnant but if we did it the right way round it would be Chalkidiki Greece

Sowingbees · 29/09/2019 07:35

There is a brilliant two Ronnie's sketch about this exact issue.

Op I think only very close family/friends will notice the link so you will be fine.

It is a big name to fill and for me the unhappy ending kinda ruins it.

Jossina · 29/09/2019 08:34

I wouldn't use Romeo for reasons that have nothing to do with conception. And I wouldn't guess he'd been conceived in Rome based on that name.
