Love it. The name of the angel in It's a wonderful life.

AverageMummy · 25/09/2019 19:20

I don’t like it but I wouldn’t say I hate it either

RusholmeRuffian · 25/09/2019 19:45

Another E-Street fan here so I say gofor it

DramaAlpaca · 25/09/2019 19:51

I actually shuddered when I opened the thread & saw the name. So it's a no from me.

OctopusNow · 25/09/2019 19:56

It's ok for me but like a PP, I'm not so keen on the shortening options he might get.
I know a female Claz and I'm not keen. On the name, she's nice.

lilsquish · 25/09/2019 20:02

reminds me of the film 8 mile

'this boys a gangster?? his real name's Clarence.......'

so, no, incase that's not clear:-D

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 25/09/2019 20:22

I quite like it. DH suggested it for DC3 and I laughed and said he was ridiculous, but it’s actually growing on me...

Kanga83 · 25/09/2019 20:25

I know a Clarence that goes by Larry. I prefer Lawrence but Clarence wouldn't be out of place where we live.

FenellaMaxwell · 25/09/2019 20:26

Duke of Clarence - drowned in a barrel of wine by his brother.

Atlasta · 25/09/2019 20:27

Just no

Tillygetsit · 25/09/2019 23:39

Yikes.

Jossina · 25/09/2019 23:49

I think it's fine and different yet not batty.

Maseandmum · 25/09/2019 23:51

I think it’s okay, I don’t like it personally, but then a lot of people probably wouldn’t like DS’s name.

MrsDimmond · 25/09/2019 23:55

I like it but only when shortened to Cal

Cal is not an obvious nn for Clarence Hmm

Sorry OP it's a no from me, to Clarence and Cal

Chocmallows · 25/09/2019 23:56

If I asked my teen and 9 yr old what they thought about the name Clarence, I'm sure I would receive quizzical looks and queries if it's a boy's or girl's name.

It's probably due a come-back, but in another decade.

NicolaStart · 26/09/2019 00:33

I don’t like it at all.

TottieandMarchpane · 26/09/2019 00:49

I don’t feel strongly either way, but I do predict that those Maurice, Clarence, Walter type names will resurge soon.

MartiniDry · 26/09/2019 00:50

To the pp who said Clarence is "great for a ginger cat", I had a ginger Clarence cat!

It really suited him but I cannot imagine a child with the name. Even if a boy gets away with it on the grounds of being cute at 5 years old he'll not manage to look cute as a 30 year old Clarence.

CilantroChili · 26/09/2019 00:57

He’ll need to be tall, very, very handsome and extremely confident to carry it.

Astronica · 26/09/2019 14:26

I don't like it.
