I like it but prefer Aurelia.

funmummy48 · 14/09/2019 10:17

I also prefer Aurelia.....It sounds less Disney.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 10:18

Love both aurora and Aurelia

IggyAce · 14/09/2019 10:19

Makes me think Disney princess. I know one who goes by the nn Rory.

ThatFlamingCandle · 14/09/2019 10:27

Such a pretty name, but it's becoming way too overused and the pronunciation is a bit clumsy.

Morado · 14/09/2019 10:30

I thought that it was a bit of a faff to say so I ruled it out for my DD. However, a good friend of my names her DD Aurora a few months after mine was born and after spending time with her I've found it's actually really easy to say. She also gets called Rora and Rory which I just love 😍

Floopily · 14/09/2019 10:32

I did like it until I was on a train recently and a woman who was, erm, a bit rough, shouted "RORA" at her little girl, it just sounded awful.

Morado · 14/09/2019 10:32

And it's not that overused. Not compared to the usually top 20 names anyway!

bridgetreilly · 14/09/2019 10:45

Dawn. Prettier and less of-the-moment.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 11:11

Omg never thought of the nn Rory!! Gosh I wish I’d used this name now. It’s beautiful and can be made more funky if wanted with nn Rory. Other more feminine nicknames also an option too. Perfect

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 11:12

@Morado agree it’s really not overused at all. Not met any in past few years at baby groups but know a friend of a friend with an Aurelia

NcHere · 14/09/2019 11:14

My daughters name. Age 12.

She is so undisney it's not even funny. Total tomboy.

We call her Rorie most of the time.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2019 12:26

It's pretty. But the nn Rory on a girl is ridiculous. Rora's OK.

NcHere · 14/09/2019 12:37

😂

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2019 12:40

NcHere sorry Blush I hadn't seen your post before I posted. The Rorie spelling is better on a girl Grin

Rory is derived from Red King in Irish, so it's very masculine to me

NcHere · 14/09/2019 12:54

Bless. No worries. It does honestly suit her bit I've always liked to challenge stereotypes :)

Very sweet of you to apologise x

Morado · 14/09/2019 14:18

I'm used to Rory on a girl because I loved Gilmore girls where the main character is called Rory (short for Lorelai)

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 14:23

Auri alternative nn to Rory too.

Aurora such a cool name

Lavenderblues · 14/09/2019 14:24

Love Aurora!

user1493494961 · 14/09/2019 14:57

Very Disney.

Cbeebiesrehab · 14/09/2019 15:05

Dislike Aurora, I find it too frilly. Love Rory/Rorie though!

MikeUniformMike · 14/09/2019 15:10

Not keen. I hear Owowa.

Strugglingtodomybest · 14/09/2019 15:11

I don't like it, for some reason it's linked to the word areola in my head!

elsieotter · 14/09/2019 17:28

Friend is in 2 minds... she can’t find a name she likes as much (thinks Aurelia is beautiful but not the name for her) but equally can be a mouthful and too Disney !

Love Aurora.

Aurelia sounds too much like areola!
