Baby initials

So we have recently decided what to call the new baby. The name is irrelevant here, but it makes his initials F.O.R - which as our fourth child, we thought was perfect.. my mother has now said we cant call the baby that because everyone will just associate it with F.Off "/. I didnt even notice that and neither did hubby. Did anyone else immediately think that, and will it really be that much of an issue? "/
Thanks

Not at all you DM is being a bit ridiculous.

bridgetreilly · 13/09/2019 09:44

No one else will think that. You literally never use the initials of the first name and middle name without the surname. She'll be FOR or FR, never FO.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/09/2019 09:46

Your Mum must be quite the sweaty one to think that. I think it's fine. Congratulations on the baby x

RuskBaby · 13/09/2019 09:48

Definitely not, as PP said it will be used with surname. Ours does start O so we won’t use F or a few others.

Morado · 13/09/2019 10:00

I don't understand where she's got f off from.. I don't know what you mean when you said you hadn't noticed it. There's nothing to notice!

LarkDescending · 13/09/2019 10:03

Morado presumably what’s been said is along the lines of “Oh you can’t call him Felix Orlando [or whatever] as F.O. will make people think of F Off”.

Total non-issue, OP.

AlphabetMummy · 13/09/2019 10:23

Thanks :D thats made me feel loads better! Xx

Lets say you are calling him Finley Oliver Richmond. Then his name is Master F.O. Richmond So fuck off Richmond.

So yeah, I can see where she is coming from. I'd have changed it.

Guardsman18 · 13/09/2019 12:44

That would never have occurred to me either. I'm worried as my son's initials are B.J. Poor child!

Antonin · 13/09/2019 12:53

If you have any doubts OP just stick another name in before the second name eg to make it FJO
I cannot see a problem, however.

AlphabetMummy · 13/09/2019 12:54

Yep BJ is up there with FO "/! Eek "/ im sure there are plenty of people with silly initials though... Hopefully lol

diddlediddle · 13/09/2019 13:44

Why don't you just tell you MIL to FO?

Seriously, it's a non issue.

IckleBear · 13/09/2019 15:54

I think it's fine

AverageMummy · 13/09/2019 16:32

I’m really fussy about this sort of thing & no I see no issue here whatsoever

Frith2013 · 14/09/2019 10:33

I’d put in a second middle name.

CocoLoco87 · 14/09/2019 10:49

My son is a BJ Grin tbf it's his first and middle initial rather than firstname surname. I knew it when I did it, but the J was really important to me! No one has said anything to me about it. I'd think they were a bit chaldish if they did.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 10:49

That’s completely fine

For what it’s worth my nephew’s initials are BJ. We only realised when he was about 4.

Guardsman18 · 14/09/2019 11:26

I've only just realised now and he's nearly 15!

user1493494961 · 14/09/2019 11:38

Going against the grain but I would add a second middle name.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 12:03

I’ve never even seen people use FO as slang for F* Off

It’s not like “wtf” or something which is used regularly

Boris Johnson’s initials are BJ too for what it’s worth

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2019 12:24

Your DM is being daft.
