It's a very American woman born in the 1960s name, I will admit, but has it got any staying power?

Isnt she in American Dad?
-ine names seem a little dated, imvho, quite 70s: Jacqueline, fir example.

Having said that, I love France, so a 'little France' Francine would be cool!

I'm torn!

It's different without being ridiculous, although I don't watch American TV so have no idea how 'American' it is. It's a pretty name.

At first I was like NO but now im not opposed to it... wouldn’t use it but different. Love the Frankie nn too.

Ooh yeah. And IIRC there is a respected journalist called Francine Stock.

As a Scot who lived in England I’ve been a bit absurdly obsessed with “French” names and wanted to call DD1 “Marie- France” but I’d have been sectioned.

I think it’s a nice, refreshing change. As a pp said it’s different without being out there. It’s nowhere near as dated as some of the current old lady names that are in fashion are (Olive, Edith, Ivy etc).

I’ve no strong feelings but it’s a nice name that I think would be acceptable and not dated. Not really ever been used enough to become ordinary and stale

I like it. Apparently "ine" names are considered classy in France. I like Justine too. I'm not keen on the "een" ending. Maureen, Doreen etc
