After much deliberation I've narrowed my girls name list down to:

Pippa
Hallie
Connie

Brother is Noah. Boys name I've picked is Rupert.
Why do you prefer? And why?

Ta muchly.

Pps are SO annoying! Pippa and Connie are lovely! Phillippa and Constance are hideous! Why are some MN posters so obsessed with using the long name even if it’s ugly, and only the short version will be used?!? I’d definitely go for Connie as Pippa travels terribly - my cousin Pippa (expat) has had a Hell of a time with her name! It’s slang for all kinds of horrible stuff in other countries (including blowjob and vagina!). So Hallie would be my number two and Pippa off the list.

ABitOTT · 08/09/2019 07:13

Love Hallie, know a couple of adult Pippas & like the name, not so keen on Pippa

thebakerwithboobs · 08/09/2019 08:41

As previous, Pippa isn't horrible but has some really awful meanings elsewhere. I'd avoid. Hallie always sounds like a made up name to me, I'm not keen. Connie for me out of those three.

IckleBear · 08/09/2019 09:00

Connie

Astronica · 08/09/2019 09:12

I love Pippa so easy winner for me. A little quirky, fun, but still suits all ages. Hallie seems bland to me, and very like Hayley which was good in the 70s and 80s but now feels dated and a bit over-used. Connie sounds harsh and unappealing to me.

neverornow · 08/09/2019 09:42

I like Pippa best and think it sounds lovely with Noah

  1. Pippa
  2. Hallie
  3. Connie
Gruzinkerbell1 · 08/09/2019 09:45

Pippa is my favourite. I think it ages well.

EugenesAxe · 08/09/2019 09:49

@Icantthinkofanynewnames Philippa, hideous? I think it’s one of the most beautiful names ever. Philippa of Hainault as an example... it’s so elegant!

Also agree children should have full names so they can decide what they prefer when older. But if you insist on using short forms, Connie, Pippa, Hallie. I prefer Phil as a nn. for Philippa anyway.

Sophronia · 08/09/2019 11:32

Connie

forevercurious · 08/09/2019 12:48

My favourite is Connie, I know two Hallies that are under a year old so it could be becoming a more popular name if that is a factor you’re considering :)

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 10/09/2019 19:33

Pippa

Clayplease · 11/09/2019 15:39

I love Connie. Think Connie and Noah go so well together.

mintich · 11/09/2019 19:50

Pippa

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/09/2019 19:53

Pippa. My bunnies name as a child.

Moongirl10 · 11/09/2019 21:56

They’re all really lovely but my favourite is Pippa.

MyCatDrinksFlatWhites · 12/09/2019 07:58

My favourite is Pippa and I don’t think the issues with it in other languages are an issue unless you’re a very international family.

Connie is pretty too - it reminds me of the Chalet School.

I’m not a fan of Hallie at all - it sounds a bit “incomplete” as a name to me, whereas the others sound like perfectly acceptable names in their own right rather than nicknames.

Enko · 12/09/2019 09:24

I don't like a by of them. At a push I would say Hallie . The other 2 are not my thing at all

Enko · 12/09/2019 09:29

Btw reasoning I have a Onnie ending myself and I find them harsh and unpleasant. And Pippa to me sounds like something a toddler who cant speak will say. Plus the few adult pippas I have met were horrible people. I have never met a Hallie hence the push. Also like many I much prefer full names however I would not have lcared much for the longer versions of those 2 above either.

Jossina · 12/09/2019 10:15

Don't like any of them much, but I guess Hallie is the best of the lot.

Nonmerci · 12/09/2019 11:34

Pippa. I’ve never really liked Connie, I don’t know why. I remember someone in my extended family using it about 15ish years ago and I’ve just never liked it. My DGM has a friend named Connie so I always associate it with that old woman too. Don’t like Hallie, no real reason it’s just not my taste.

Confusednewmum1 · 14/09/2019 04:52

Connie! Love Pippa but never knew it meant all these things in other countries!!! Don’t do it you never know she could marry an Italian one day!!!!
Hallie is ok but it’s quite popular where I am and is always Hayley ect.
Connie timeless and classic as is Rupert, there’s a Rupert in my family who is baby Ru and although I’m not sure mum and dad where happy at first with the nickname it’s stuck and he’s amazing

QuinoaWest · 14/09/2019 05:56

Love Hallie!

Name of Nora Ephron's writer sister, also.

ChaosisntapitChaosisaladder19 · 14/09/2019 06:39

I associate hallie with a dog my db has a dog called that. Put of those names I would say Pippa but I also prefer the longer version of the name so they kids have a choice when they are older.

NameChangerAmI · 14/09/2019 06:45

I love Connie, really don't like Hallie, and think Rupert is a bit pretentious.

IMO, Rupert, won't sit well unless you belong to the higher echelons of the upper classes and are Eton-bound.

NameChangerAmI · 14/09/2019 06:46

Pippa - would avoid like the plague now that I know what other Mners have told me! Shock
