Zara, Safiya...or what else?

Baby girl is due on New Year's Day!

DH's family is Muslim, and we'd like a name that 'works' in Urdu or Arabic, but it doesn't strictly need to be a Muslim name.

Zara is my favourite, and DH likes but doesn't love it. Safiya is a possible alternative.

What do you think? And any alternatives?

Oh, I forgot Nadia, also Asma is nice.

Any old biblical names will fit the bill.

I know an Amina and a Nadia and I think they're both beautiful names.

Another vote for Leila!

Hawa is one equivalent of Eve and I love it.

Was going to suggest Layla/Leila and Amaya but already been done - beautiful names. I also love Zara. It sounds classy, easy to pronounce and is underused.

As you ladies have been so good at suggestions.... what do you think of Saffron?

It's DH's idea. I love the sound (and the spice!), but can't stop thinking of AbFab!

I LOVE the name Saffron, it’s a beautiful name. I might be a bit biased though Grin.

CampfireZen · 08/09/2019 22:22

Saffron is lovely

(As a counter to Ab Fab's, there are always Saffron Burrows & Saffron Aldridge!)
