What are your thoughts on the name Romeo? Is it doable with an English surname? What makes me question the usability is Romeo Beckham.

I like it! I really do. I mean it’s not like naming your daughter Beyoncé is it. But I suspect everyone will disagree w me so will be watching this thread!

aibutohavethisusername · 28/08/2019 20:59

I like it.

HappyDinosaur · 28/08/2019 21:02

I actually think it's a very nice name, but I've a strange humour and it tickles me to envisage you playing hide and seek with him...'Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou Romeo?'

user1493494961 · 28/08/2019 21:03

No.

PastTippingPoint · 28/08/2019 21:06

I like it!

There's Romeo of the Magic Numbers if you wanted a more musical association Smile

Fifteenthnamechange · 28/08/2019 21:08

I love it

ArtisanPopcorn · 28/08/2019 21:11

Big no from me.

MyAuntyBadger · 28/08/2019 21:13

I love it. It's my surname though so I might be biased Grin

hungryhippie · 28/08/2019 21:16

I like it but I do immediately think of the Beckhams.

Hundredacrewoods · 28/08/2019 21:20

It’s a big name to live up to OP - Romeo is Shakespeare’s ultimate romantic hero. What if he’s an awkward or unattractive teenager who’s never had any success with girls?

joystir59 · 28/08/2019 21:22

Romeo is beautiful. I've taught a couple of teen-agers called Romeo in recent years. Gorgeous name.

AlpacaGoodnight · 28/08/2019 21:23

I taught one, he was lovely! And every other child in the school adored his name!

The two Romeo's I've known were very different but awkward kids with special needs, but in each case the name suited them down to the grounds

AverageMummy · 28/08/2019 22:09

Awful

Bedsheets4knickers · 28/08/2019 22:14

I like it too

Horatioroses · 28/08/2019 22:16

Romeo Beckham is what makes you question it's usability?

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 28/08/2019 22:24

I quite like it. DH would NEVER have agreed to it though 🤷🏾‍♀️

Frith2013 · 28/08/2019 23:02

It’s not quite bad enough to Foxtrot Oscar but nearly.

Lowcarblady · 29/08/2019 00:22

Horatioroses

What I mean is that the Beckhams make me think it could be usable as a name that could be taken seriously.

Being a celebrity kind of opens the doors on more unusual names! I think Romeo is often used in a negative way ("he's a real Romeo") which puts me off. It is a name massively connected to the fictional character in most people's minds.

Antonin · 29/08/2019 12:36

I think it has too many cultural associations to be useable by any other than celebs. Don’t think your DS would thank you, though I agree it is a nice name.
Only Romeo I know was a lawyer who was disbarred.
