For me, it has negative connotations because the less able children at my school were unkindly referred to as remmy ie remedial. That may not be the case where you are though, it could be geographical.

I also think of the male character in House of Cards. I think the character’s parents were French speakers.

I'm another one who was bought up (unfortunately) with remmy =special needs.

Remi from The Stone Roses was my first thought.

Similar is Romi like Romi and Michelle. I like it but it would be Veto'd by BF

Nice but does make me think of the indigestion tablets. I do also think of it as a boy's name but only because I've only come across it being used for boys. How about Romy? It is similar in sound but more feminine.

It’s a boy’s name. I prefer the Remy spelling. How about Romy for a girl?

Beautiful Yoruba (Nigerian) name. Usually it would be the second half of a name, such as Aderemi, with Remi as the short version used most of the time.

P.s. Utterly unisex for a Yoruba name and I know women/girls with the name (as well as males)

Ratatouille Disney film main character was a male rat called Remy. So it's a no from me.

Remy is a boys name, isn’t it? But Remi with an i looks quite girly. I think it’s nice.
