What sounds better?

First a girl I like the first name Hannah, for middle names were thinking of using mine and my partners' mothers names, which sounds better:

Hannah Sarah-Aileen Lindsay

Or

Hannah Aileen-Sarah Lindsay

?

Sarah Aileen.

Are you hyphenating the middle names? Why?

DramaAlpaca · 18/08/2019 12:12

Sarah first. I don't see the need to hyphenate them, just have two middle names.

user1493494961 · 18/08/2019 12:13

Sarah Aileen. Agree, no hyphen necessary.

BertrandRussell · 18/08/2019 12:14

Aileen Sarah but no hyphen.

Lozabob · 18/08/2019 12:25

Nah, won't be hyphenating them, just to emphasise those were the middle ones, as my last name "Lindsay" might seem like another middle one Grin

Sarah first but not much in it

Frith2013 · 18/08/2019 14:32

Sarah and Aileen are nice names. Hannah is a 1970s born, plump housewife.

thenailtechmom · 18/08/2019 15:01

@Frith2013 thanks for that

Frith2013 · 18/08/2019 15:25

@thenailtechmum who are you?

Poetryinaction · 18/08/2019 18:59

Sarah Aileen

diddlediddle · 18/08/2019 20:49

Sarah first because the A sound in Aileen runs into the a sound at the end of Hannah otherwise.

Cookit · 18/08/2019 20:57

Sarah and Aileen are nice names. Hannah is a 1970s born, plump housewife.

Really? If anything Hannah is an 80s name so Hannahs are in their 30s now. Aileen is much more dated than Hannah.

I think Hannah is a nice name. Not in vogue right now but classic enough for that not to be a problem.

I don’t like Aileen but you’re using for a nice reason. I don’t think the way round really matters.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/08/2019 21:00

I prefer Aileen Sarah

Fozzleyplum · 18/08/2019 21:01

The first one, as otherwise, it spells "HAS(s)L(e)".

Summerunderway · 18/08/2019 21:22

If you did Aileen Sarah then explaining you chose alphabetically may keep the peace?!

MamaGee09 · 18/08/2019 21:38

Hannah is a classic timeless name, not sure where Frith2013 gets her ideas from.

I know 70yr old Hannah’s aswell as 2 yr old Hannah’s.

Definitely use Sarah before Aileen, though I’d only give one middle name and keep the other name as a middle name for future children

DD has my mums name as a middle name and dh wanted his mums name used but it’s really old fashioned and I said no! Thankfully his sister had already used it for her dd.

HappyGirl86 · 18/08/2019 22:13

I'm a Hannah and I'm in my 30's. Most Hannahs I meet are around my age.
Although I work as a registrar and I occasionally register new babies called Hannah.
It's nice to see people choosing it Smile

Sophronia · 18/08/2019 22:33

Hannah Sarah Aileen

Shadow1234 · 19/08/2019 02:06

Hannah is a lovely name

Hannah Sarah Aileen

Rosecherry · 19/08/2019 03:20

Hannah Sarah Aileen Lindsay.
I think this rolls out easyer when saying the full name aloud. But it's about what you really like best - Smile say them aloud a few times to give you a feel of saying them Smile

IckleBear · 19/08/2019 09:31

Hannah Sarah Eileen

IckleBear · 19/08/2019 09:32

Aileen*

NoSauce · 19/08/2019 09:49

Sarah Aileen

MrsBertBibby · 19/08/2019 10:31

They don't sound great either way round. I would pick one and use the other later.

Or go bananas and combine them to make Ailsa.

MrsBertBibby · 19/08/2019 10:34

How does Aileen get pronounced anyway? I'm never sure where the stress goes and whether it's Eye-Lean or Ay-lean or Uh-lean
