Names for twins - youngest of seven!!

SingletonSeven · 03/08/2019 14:40

We are soon to welcome our twins - identical boys who will join the 5 children we already have. The older 5 were all born within 8 years, but the youngest is now 8 so these two are quite separate from their older siblings.
Older children all have short-ish names which can be shortened but we don't. All children have virtues for middle names (Courage, Obey, Faith, Joy and Justice) and we are currently planning on Honour and Peace for these two.
No names beginning with Jo sound please - we already have two!!

Thank you so much for all of the suggestions!!!

A lot of these names we have already been though and vetoes so we're on the right track. (Joel, Judah, Noah, Elijah, Saul, Malachi, etc)

I've put a load of these through to DH to see what he likes and will let people know in due course what the decision is - they're due in 2 weeks but they're twins so who knows?

Obey

Really? Confused

SingletonSeven · 03/08/2019 19:31

@MoreSlidingDoors - yep. Gideon Obey. DH wanted obedience at first but the whole S sound thing prevailed (yes it's been a big deal since our eldest was born. All five of the older ones had the name Justice as a middle name before I finally convinced him to give it to the youngest.)

Thomas and Caleb.

Thomas because it means twin and is Biblical and Caleb because I think it goes best with the others. They both have two syllables, so match four of your others.

SingletonSeven · 06/08/2019 18:28

@MoreSlidingDoors - We live in the UK. We just both like that they have a virtue to carry around with them to remind them to be courageous, obedient, faithful, joyful and just.

I disagree with obedience. I want my child to question and change things that aren’t right. The world needs more rebels. 💪🏼

MoreSlidingDoors · 06/08/2019 18:36

But I guess with that many it’s more a case of crowd control!

SingletonSeven · 06/08/2019 18:37

The twins were born yesterday morning by emergency C-section after twin A's heartbeat slowed dramatically overnight.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, in the end we went for a couple of names that @MyNewBearTotoro and @Arpafeelie suggested - Caleb Honour and Isaiah Peace.

Caleb means "Devotion to God" and Isaiah means "God is my Salvation"

Thank you again to @MyNewBearTotoro and @Arpafeelie for the suggestions!!

❤️❤️❤️Lovely names x congratulations!

Bumbags · 06/08/2019 20:21

Why don’t the girls have biblical names?

Congratulations on your twins.

MyNewBearTotoro · 06/08/2019 22:08

Congratulations Flowers Caleb and Isaiah are both wonderful names and go well with your middle names. Glad I could offer some inspiration!

Hoping the twins and yourself are all doing well (I have twins myself) and that you’re home soon. X

Thank you so much for all the lovely messages!

@Bumbags - Josie and Lola don't have Biblical names because we really struggled to find names that we liked that hadn't already been used by friends or family. Josie means "God will add". Lola means "Lady of sorrows" which I know isn't the best meaning for a little girl but it can also mean "moving back and forth" and my oh my did she do just that!!!

@MyNewBearTotoro - Thank you so much again!!

@MoreSlidingDoors - Thank you for your perspective! For us, it's not so much about using the name as a hint for him to be Obedient at all times and to never break the rules (if it is, it didn't do a very good job for many years!!) but more about being respectful, cohesive and generally of good disposition. Also, obedience is not always to God or to someone of a greater authority, it can also be to yourself and to your morals or morals that you have been brought up with. Obviously, obedience to God and to people in authority is important - some rules just have to be followed. But being obedient to yourself and your body is also important. If your body is telling you it's tired, listen to it, respect it. If something is telling you you're doing something wrong, or that what you're doing goes against the way you've been brought up, or the values you have been brought up with you need to respect it and be obedient to that feeling.
Gideon is a curious boy - DH often called him George when he was younger (after the monkey) and he still to this day tests the rules we and others set out for him. He is fiercely independent and likes to find things out for himself.
I hope this makes our choice of name a little more understandable for you. xx
