Girls names

I am currently pregnant with our first child and we've just found out it's a girl.

We've had 2 front runner names for a long time (before we even conceived!) but DH now thinks we need a third option, "just in case" (in case of what, I'm not sure!)

We won't be naming her until she is here.

The names we have are:
• Charlotte (with either Grace or Florence as a middle name)
• Florence (with either May or Amelia as a middle name)

Our surname is Squires. DH has mentioned wanting a name a little less traditional than the 2 we already have, but is also adverse to anything too "different or unique" (She is due in December, if there are any Christmassy/Wintery suggestions)

Please help?!

Natalie
Noelle
Robyn
Mary

Are all obvious Xmas ones.

Grace and May are overdone as middle names, they're the Louise, Ann, Jane and Marie of the 80s/90s

LookAtThatRedSheep · 24/07/2019 11:12

Could you use a nickname of the names you’ve chosen as a less traditional option?
So Florence known as Flossie/Wren or Charlotte known as Lottie/Lotta?

MsSquiz · 24/07/2019 11:14

@DrDentyst - the middle names we have chosen are family names, so popularity of them isn't really relevant.
Thank you for your suggestions

@LookAtThatRedSheep - funnily enough Flossie and Lottie are the nicknames we love for those names, but DH prefers the full "official" name.
We couldn't agree on Isabella/Bella because the wanted the Isabella as her name with Bella as a nickname, but I don't like Isabella!

Marianne
Celeste
Merryn
Rowan
Eloise
Claudia
Rose (popular as a middle name but not so often used as a first name)

LookAtThatRedSheep · 24/07/2019 11:30

Arabella instead of Isabella?

MsSquiz · 24/07/2019 12:18

I love Rose but we have (in close friends and family) an Olivia Rose and a Rose Olivia.

I like Eloise, but we have a Louise, Louisa and an Elodie!

DH has a huge family and our baby's cousins/2nd cousins, there are 9 girls and 3 boys! Plus we have 4 friends due to give birth between October and December, and so far we know 2 of them are having girls!

Juniper Grace Squires
Rosabel Maeve Squires
Eliza Florence Squires

DrDentyst · 24/07/2019 12:41

I only mentioned the popularity of your potential middle names due to your DH seeking something slightly less traditional as a first name. I find some people just don't realise that Grace, Rose and May are so popular these days as middle names.

What about something like Henrietta, Harriet, Imogen?

MsSquiz · 24/07/2019 12:51

@DrDentyst sorry if I came across snappy, I didn't mean to Smile
Tbh, although it's DH saying he wants something less traditional, it's also him who has vetoed anything vaguely not traditional! I do like Henrietta - traditional but not very common at the moment.

@Icklepup I love Eliza! And it flows nicely with Florence as a middle name.

I'll show DH these suggestions this evening

I have an Eliza so I second that suggestion!

Penelope, cara, felicity, edith, rose/rosalie
Not too out there but not essentially traditional
