I've met 3 baby Amandas in the last fortnight. It's a perfectly normal name but I wouldn't have thought it due a revival yet.
What do you think?

A friend's used it. Mildly taken aback when I first heard it as I thought like you it wasn't 'ready' for a revival yet, but actually it's a great name and of course now my dear friend's dd has it I love it. Quite glad she's not a Mandy though.

It still feels very much a name for a 40 something, to me. Especially if shortened to Mandy!

I like it. Dislike Mandy.

But it would be difficult to stop friends calling her Mandy (or Mand).

I quite like it (I love Restoration comedy, which is where the name originates from). I think I would have to preemptively introduce Ammi as a nickname though, in order to prevent Mandy.

I quite like Amanda, but not any of the diminutives.

Growing up in the 70s there were three Amandas in our street, it was very popular then.

This is the middle name DD1 (14) has picked for her future daughter, and it's quite nice really. It does remind me of certain bitchy Amandas I've known, but I haven't told her that because she hasn't grown up with any Amandas so it's not really relevant to her. This could be a slow-burning trend.

I wasn't keen on this in the 70s and 80s when it was popular, and it hasn't grown on me at all.

I like Amanda. Lovely feminine name.

It makes a refreshing change from all the cutesy Ellies, Evies, Betsies, Elsies etc.

I'm not keen because I have Miranda whom people often refer to as Amanda, even though her name isn't that unusual.

I like it. It doesn't have to be Mandy. Ammi is awful like 'Ammi the 'Amster.

It's beautiful as it is. Amanda is easy to say, it doesn't need shortening.

I've always really like it but I know a few Amanda's/Mandys so didn't use it for that reason.

I also really like Caroline, Karen, Samantha and Vanessa which are a of similar era.

It was very popular in the 60s/70s so not sure really how well it will go down with others who are ruled by what's fashionable now. But if you love it, go your own way! It's a pretty name, nicer than a lot of those popular right now (eg Isla).

Oh that's quite surprising! I can't imagine a baby Amanda, although I know a few ranging from 50ish to 30ish yo, which is quite a big age range when I think about it...

I suppose it isn't a million miles away from Amelia, Amelie etc.

Amanda sounds pretty. More memorable than Amelia or Amelie of which there are so many.
