Thoughts?! I can’t decide whether it’s cute or awful! Not Stephanie btw, just Stevie

Stephanie nn Stevie - yes
Stevie on its own, no

Sorry, I hate this trend of nicknames as full names

LollyBmummyof3 · 07/07/2019 17:53

No👎🏻

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 07/07/2019 17:56

I don't like it it does sound a bit chavvy. Evie is nicer.
Billie is better than Stevie

Oldraver · 07/07/2019 18:02

I know of two Stevies both really lovely girls so I associate it as a lovely name

One us named after her Dad

Nonameyet1 · 07/07/2019 18:16

I don’t like it I’m afraid but then I don’t like the name Steve or Steven

BadPeaMask · 07/07/2019 18:19

I like it. Met a baby Andi recently short for Andrea and loved that too

Chloe9 · 07/07/2019 18:25

Not a massive fan. It's a little bit chavvy and a little bit cutesy and I don't really like unisex names. But it's not horrible just not my taste

JBH316 · 07/07/2019 18:30

I love it and had it on my names list for the longest time (until a complete chav I know called their daughter it and now its ruined!)

Stampyourfeet · 07/07/2019 18:36

I always had this on my list of names, so yes I love it!

tabbiemoo · 07/07/2019 18:37

Sorry I think it’s awful and very chavvy imo as is Billie. There are so many other lovely girls names out there to pick from.

helpmum2003 · 07/07/2019 18:37

I don't like it but think it's very personal.

I'm not keen on unisex names. Also think an alternative option is needed for when they are older so I'd go for Stephanie NN Stevie.

shoofly · 07/07/2019 18:40

DS1 is 13, he's very good friends with a girl called Stevie. She's fabulous, petite, funny and just lovely. Her name has caused confusion all the way through primary school and on into secondary. I like the name.

MamaFlintstone · 07/07/2019 18:42

I really like it (am another big Stevie Nicks fan) but DH hated it so it was a no go for our DD. I work with a Stevie and it definitely works in a grown-up, professional, corporate capacity too.

SemperIdem · 07/07/2019 18:59

It’s dreadful. It’s also dated.

Not sure about the pp saying that Riley and Bailey are obviously unisex either. I’d assume boy for both. Aubrey too.

PrincessLouis · 07/07/2019 19:02

Well there’s Stevie Smith (female poet)

I knew a female Stevie but she was Stephanie. I would go for that as it gives your DD options and Stevie is pretty out there

ifoundthebread · 07/07/2019 19:03

I know 2 stevie-leigh, get called stevie for short.

small2018 · 07/07/2019 19:54

I really like it but would give a proper full name and use Stevie as a nickname.

Moondancer73 · 07/07/2019 20:26

I love it, unusual and cool. Go for it.

anothernotherone · 08/07/2019 05:44

@PrincessLouis Stevie Smith the poet's real name was Florence! Stevie started as a jokey nickname between her and a friend allegedly because she rode a horse jockey style (very short stirrups?) and her friend said she looked like a famous (male) jockey at the time called Stevie.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 08/07/2019 05:52

Not keen. Reminds me of the sweetener Stevia as well.

StevieNicksRhiannon · 08/07/2019 06:06

Worked out just fine for me Wink

sallievp · 08/07/2019 06:09

love it.... unusual but not odd

Celticdawn5 · 08/07/2019 06:18

Stevie is the name of one of the female characters in Schitts Creek on Netflix.
It’s a perfectly fine name in its own right

Bezalelle · 08/07/2019 08:26

I love Stevie.

Astronica · 08/07/2019 08:35

I like it. I know one woman called Stevie (not short for anything) and a child.
